The grocery store disgusts me sometimes...

So sorry for my choppy vocabulary. :D

You seem to have missed the main point, that some of us are questioning your attitude towards people who were annoying and perhaps acting inappropriately, but did you no harm.

Have you ever known a person with dementia? A caregiver of such a person? If not, you can't understand the stress involved. Should it be taken out on strangers in public? Of course not. But sometimes people under stress lose control.

(Like posters who go on tirades about other peoples' weight. Why are you so interested in a total stranger's weight? What
business is it of yours?)

That may or may not be what was going on there. But consider the possibility. Have a little compassion!

BTW, I found your "mooching" comment to be quite interesting after I read elsewhere that you are unemployed and apparently living with your mother. Doing a little projecting, perhaps?

Meh, people are people. They weren't bugging you directly. Just go about your business. It's one thing I miss about New England. If a situation has nothing to do with you, move along.

And I agree with what people are saying on this thread. You don't kno their circumstances. You really shouldn't judge them so harshly, or at all really.

I have a tip for supermarket workers such as myself. This is a great way to relieve stress on the job:

Throw Angry Birds toys at people at random moments. It is usually prudent to limit this to coworkers, though.

The section is miscellaneous; the thread has a topic.

(I used to be like you, BTW. I thread-shat left and right with baseball references that had no meaning to the topic at hand. But I grew out of it. For what that's worth. )

Aww... if he'd said The Red Sox disgusted him you would have thrown up a big ol :techman:

I was at the grocery store last night and saw an abandonded basket sitting on top of some other baskets with milk in it. It had been sitting there for a while.

You change your mind but you're so damn lazy you just let the milk spoil and now the store has to throw it away and they can't make any money off of it. And to top it all off, the milk fridge was like 10 feet away! Who does stuff like that?

A lot of people. People are idiots. Is see crap like this everyday and it's frustrating. Even more frustrating is when people talk to you like you have the friggin' gift of mind-reading and don't need full details on what they want and can just accept a request for "meat" or "beef" or "hamburger."

But, get this, I encountered this a few days ago as I left work and was headed towards my car an older woman (probably 70s or 80s) approached me looking sort of confused and put-out and asked me for help.

"Okay, ma'am, what can I help you with?"
"I... I can't find my car."
"Okay, do you remember in what area you parked?"
"No... I don't... I just parked it when I came here now I can't find it..."
"Okay, well I can try to help you to find it, what kind of car is it?"
"White."
"Okay, is it a Chevy? A Ford? A Toyota?..."
"I don't know... I really don't remember all of the names of them, I just know it's white."
".... Okay, is it a four-door, a two door?"
".... I don't know... It's white."
"Okay, ma'am." I'm now grasping for straws as I really have no idea how to help her here so I ask for the keys thinking I could tell from them what sort of car it was or if she has a key fob that might allow me to get the car to signal its location when pressing the panic alarm or something. She hands over the keys, no remote fob, but from the key I saw that the car was a Ford.

So I proceeded to pretty much walk with her around the parking lot pointing out all of the white Fords and asking her if that was it and she was constantly unsure. We finally found it, on the other-side of the parking lot a little further down the strip-mall than where my store is located a white Ford Taurus, probably a 2008 model so it should have had a remote fob, Lord knows where that went too. She got in her car and slowly drove off.

It's scary to me that such a person is out there sharing the road with me.

There was a customer in my store this morning who set off the yuck-o-meter in my mind. He was a guy in his 80's who had on some kind of jumpsuit/pant combination, in which his wallet was apparently stuck. Dude wanted ME to help him get it out. :wtf:

So tell me, if a creepy old guy wanted you to stick your hand down his pants, would you do it?

What, an elderly woman who doesn't know what make her car is? How does that in any way affect her driving?

For all you know it wasn't even her car, but someone's car that she borrowed. I don't know half the details about my husband's car that I did with my own.

Hey, he was nice enough to help an old lady after he'd clocked out and no doubt wanted to go home.

Always look on the bright side of life... do do, do do do do do!

Yeah, but how nice is it when you go home and make fun of her to a bunch of strangers?

Look, I don't want to turn this into another thread about having a go at Trekker. I didn't like stuff in the OP either. I'm just sick of people being so critical and harsh towards people they don't even know.

I dunno, if I had totally forgotten where I parked my car, I'd be too embarrassed by my own stupidity to ask anyone for help finding it.

Do you know how many doors your husband's car has? If not, you probably shouldn't be on the road.
