*~*~The Great J/C Thread~*~*

Thanks Gates!
I've just finished repairing my navigation link to Save Janeway Campaign on my homepage. Now it works perfectly again.
I suspect Pocket Books sabotaged it! ;). Now you can read the whole thing about the campaign, if you like!

There is a Star Trek Voyager book entitled "Distant Shores" It has about 10 or more stories that fit themselves into the series by extending the storylines (ie: there is a great story about what happened during Talent Night). One of the stories is called 'Isabo's Shirt'. It's a J/C story and used the backstory we learned from "Mosaic" to help Kathryn explain her position to Chakotay. It closes a door but opens a window and it

(Opps... I didn't finish).... It closes a door but opens a window and it leaves room for hope as soon as Voyager returns home. I enjoyed the entire book... I love the series and thought this was a fun read.

KathrynJ, love your videos. They are really great.
And it`s also great to hear the voice of Robert`s brother.

I liked "Distant Shores," too, and thought that probably somewhere along the way Janeway and Chakotay had to have had a conversation similar to what we readin in "Isabo's Shirt"; we just weren't privy to it.

That said, I was also a bit disappointed in the way Janeway was frequently characterized in the stories. I'm thinking of the one where the crippled alien helped Seven survive, for example. When the alien is injured rescuing them, Janeway refuses to give her medical help because of the prime directive (or some such bogus thing) which makes her look cruel and heartless. I just don't see Janeway doing that. And there are other similar decisions she makes in those stories that are uncharacteristically heartless and callous.

However, the "Pocket Book" Janeway is often out of character. She is usually portrayed as so obsessed with getting to the AQ that she overlooks the crew's needs and ignores the surrounding area. In fact, she was very empathetic to her crew and often went out of her way for them--and to explore surrounding space. I think the way Janeway is written in the novels just doesn't ring true to the character I saw on the screen, and that is a shame. No wonder TPTB decided that "her story had been told" when Voyager got home.

@Tachyon: Your new fake is magnificent! I love your fakes very much! Your fakes "2 tickets to Dorvan V" and "JC wedding on Dorvan" inspired me to write a JC fanfic! J & C become lovers after their trip to Tevlik's Moon (Homecoming by Chr. Golden). Chak invites Kathryn to spend her holidays on Dorvan... Yeah ;)... there is much to do after the Dominion War... especially for Kathryn, who everytime needs something to do. ...but there is plenty of time to think about their lives... their relationship... for dangerous trips to DS9... finally... Yeah...see at the two fakes of Tachyon...what they are going to do... :adore: Thank you, Tachyon!

It's a pity, my English is quite simple, so I wrote my fanfics in German. I asked Chris from VAMB for translation, but I think she hasn't enough time!

Thank you for your kind words Kathryn J. I appreciate it A LOT. I cannot think of bigger complement to my pics than someone being inspired by them to create fan art of their own. So thank you very much. :)

Your story sounds wonderful. Unfortunaly I know only couple of words in German so I guess the story is off limits for me. :p

Kathryn & Chakotay - Have Some Fun back in AQ!

...you too by watching my new vid!

How it should have been - no EndGAME, but "EndFUN" for JC when Voyager finally had reached Alpha Quadrant and Earth, respectively! An Endgame fixer upper.

Music by Louie Cruz Beltran.

I also very very enjoyed the story ISABO'S SHIRT. Thanks Kirsten Beyer for her JC romances! I hope that Pocket Books will bring back our Kathryn soon! Perhaps Kirsten Beyer herself is allowed to tidy up the mess made by Janeway's Death? I've heard there are some personal changes at Simon & Schusters... Are they a chance for Janeway's come back?

AuntKate:She is usually portrayed as so obsessed with getting to the AQ that she overlooks the crew's needs and ignores the surrounding area. In fact, she was very empathetic to her crew and often went out of her way for them--and to explore surrounding space...
I think Year Of Hell is the only episode where Janeway is obsessed and ignores the safety of crew and ship.

I was addressing the way Janeway tends to be written in the novels, not the series. You are actually agreeing with me.

Yes...I understood what you wrote. But IMO Y.O.H. is the only season of the series where KJ did so. I thought in Y.O.H. is Janeway a little bit OOC written especially before Chak and Tom disappeared from Voyager. That was what I meant. ...perhaps in Equinox too? ..a little obsessed by her own meanings?
Despite of this I love Janeway to death...;)

In the more recent novels of Pocket Books I read, like Homecoming and The Farther Shore there isn't Janeway written OOC. I liked this two Homecoming novels. But I've heard that Peter David didn't like Janeway. So together with Pocket Books he killed her thoroughly without any rest of her. Thanks God there a some fanfics which show that Janeway isn't totally lost, e.g. by Rachael, Elorie Alton and Gates Hepburn... very very nice ideas to get her back!

Do you know Myriad Universes? In the story Places of Exile by Christopher Bennett there is a little JC romance too... with a real happy end, but in the DQ. Also an interesting plot. In this story first KJ is rather obsessed with getting home but later she finds her place (and love to Chak...) while staying in DQ.

I did read "Places of Exile." I bought that book before I decided to to forego purchasing any more of the novels until Janeway is back. However, I found Janeway to be a bit OOC there, too. She is overly concerned with getting home, to the point of ignoring her crew (I'm thinking of Torres especially here). I just don't see her failing to follow and care about her crew after Voyager is forced to stop in the DQ. But that's just me, maybe. And the romance with Chakotay is pretty lukewarm IMHO. Exploit those pent-up emotions! Let them generate a little heat, for heaven's sake!

*lol*..you are sooo right!!! I was a little bit disappointed about that two kisses and than a daughter...;).
I think all the authors are afraid of telling a real hot lovestory... Why?? K. Beyer tried it at last. But in FC there is much sadness and very small place for love... half a love I would say *ggg*

Thanks to all fanfic writers for their love stories! Without them... I don't know!

Am with you all the way!!! I still watch Voyager loads, and I can't help it - it bugs me/ enfuriates me that Janeway and Chakotay never got together and don't even mention 7!!! I quite liked her but still she has an essence of Borg barbie doll in her (sorry if you're her fan am just mad she got with Chakotay), it was so obvious j and C were in loved, am so gutted!!

IMO JC belong together! This whole C7 thing makes me sick! The boobs queen with red dress and fair head really isn't the right for Chak. Until this Human Error I really liked Seven... but then I became very disappointed what TPTB did to Kathryn! It's a shame!!

Even if they would have not ever ended up together, it would have still been nice to seem them acknowledge their situation, their feelings, more openly. For instance, on Stargate it was more than obvious that there were deep feelings between O'Neill and Carter, yet they couldn't get involved. Something like that would have been great with J/C as well. :) But we didn't even get that. :shifty:

See, the way the O'Neill/Carter situation was dealt with worked well for me.

Praetor! Long time no see. :D

Yep, O'Neill/Carter approach with J/C would have worked fine with me. Sometimes, or would I even dare to say typically, the tension is better than situation resolved.

I agree 100 percent with Tachyon - on tension and also about how nice it is to see Praetor again.

But back OT, I really think the friendship between Chakotay and Janeway, with that bit of romantic longing for spice, was just great...But I am really glad that's as far as it went. As it was, it was interesting and intriguing, and what more can you really ask for from a TV romance?

I kind of agree - I just wish there'd been stronger hints and they'd kept it up right to the end, rather than it almost fizzling out from about season 4 onwards, with the odd exception eg in 'Shattered', and then of course C/7 (looking for a vomit smiley and we haven't got one! Why haven't we got one here??!)

The way Picard/Crusher or Troi/Riker were handled works well for me, hints, tension, interspersed with other stuff the odd fling here and there ... then resolution in post series films or fiction. I like that. C/7 may have felt a bit more like Troi/Worf, easier to ignore IMHO, if it hadn't been in the final episode and they hadn't married in the alternate timeline.

I've made a new vid for the VAMB Janeway Lifes Story Challenge!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDClGME--BI

It tells a story about Janeways death and Chakotays grief. I think music and pictures are a language everybody will understand!
The vid is very sad... like me thinking about the death of my most beloved Kathryn Janeway.

The information on YouTube for my new vid
"Missing You, Kathryn!":

The death of Admiral Kathryn Janeway.
Nothing’s left but a white pillar in the Federation Park in San Francisco.
During an investigation of a Borg cube she was assimilated and violated to death.
Eaten by the floor. She sacrificed her life for her friends.
Chakotay is stoned in his grief.
(TNG-Before Dishonor, VOY-Full Circle)
We miss you so much, Kathryn Janeway!
We have no doubt, that you’ll return!
