The Great Gatsby - in 3D!!!

I know 3D bashing is getting tedious, but I admit I did a double take at this one. I was certain it had to be a joke, but I guess not?

Any guesses what possible benefit 3D could bring to this particular story? I can't remember, are there any scenes where Daisy gets mad and throws things? Maybe that's it. :rommie:

She probably throws things in the Mint Julep scene.

It doesn't really need to be in 3D, but there's no reason it couldn't be. The more movies filmed in 3D, the less chance people will react by assuming it has to be a gimmick.

The benefit is probably in that people see the real world around them in three dimensions. This may actually be of interest to the director in this case.

Alidar Jarok is right - there's no reason that a movie shouldn't be in 3D, and as time goes by people will become more used to a wider variety of films being made this way.

Frankly, I liked reading that Affleck turned down a high-profile acting job playing Jay Gatsby(!) because he's committed to his own directing project. Affleck's a talented guy and he deserves all the good luck in the world. :techman:

You see.. This is why I HATE it when people don't read the books.... Had y'all read the book, you'd know there's an entire chapter when Gatsby goes all Ninja on a bunch of rowdy croquet players. He whips out an arsenal of throwing stars and uses snooker balls in an ever so creative way. This will be BRILLIANT in 3D!!!

Yeah, but you KNOW they will cut that out of the movie...time constraints, you know.

Let me guess: in this version, the Valley of Ashes is a multi-color, 3-D mountain range, created by volcanoes and multiple UFO landings.
