The Good Place Season 2

JD

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
The Good Place Season 2 starts tonight, and thanks to the twist at the end of last season, we will be seeing things from a new perspective. Instead of focusing mainly on Eleanor like we did last season, we will be spending a lot more time with Micheal, and all of his behind the scenes plotting. I loved the first season, and I can't wait to see where things go now.
Here's TV Guide's review of the season's first four episodes, which talks quite a bit about the new direction.

I thought for certain this was cancelled - lost track of it somehow. I'll need to catch up. Honestly, I think the show is crap. But I still want to be Veronica Mars (or Hermione Granger, or Kim Possible) when I grow up, so... ;)

I liked the first seaon, looking forward to watching it tonight. I didn't care much for the main character, so if the show no longer focuses on her then good. Michael, played superbly by Danson, is more interesting.

It was one hell of a twist! I usually see them coming a mile away! I called the This Is Us twist in the pilot after about 15 minutes

It’s almost over here and it hasn’t missed a beat. Loved seeing how Michael created version two and how the four of them met again. This is my favorite comedy on tv.

I love the show, but the memory reset worries me because they're relationships have to start over again. I feel like the progress Eleanor's character made has basically been undone, and I wonder if it will be as enjoyable watching her progress from scratch again.

Still, last night's episode was pretty good. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go to the gym! (* Rips of his shirt! *)

EDIT: That was a spoiler, wasn't it? I'll put in a tag.

I've been catching up on season 1. Such a fun show if you don't think about the other implications of the metaphysics.

I've also been watching through The Good Wife and I keep imagining Alicia Florencio making the case for people to stay in The a Good Place.

Hey, spinoff crossover! Alicia Florrick dies and becomes an afterlife attorney, arguing to Shawn for people's admission into The Good Place.

If you're not done with Season 1 you might want to stay out of this thread, there's a pretty massive twist at the end that you really should not have spoiled.
The season is off to a great start, I loved how the focus on Micheal also allowed them to show us more of the other characters. The jumping around in the timeline was pretty good too.

I think what sold me on this was knowing what happened last season gives an entirely new perspective of The Good Place as a whole. They really played up the everyone else are actors moteif and it was almost like looking at this show from their point of view rather than the core four.

Which was a great choice, I love what they've done with Vicky aka "real Eleanor", she's so annoyed that she's now playing a minor supporting role.:rommie:

I can't wait for next week, the premiere was great.

I wonder if at some point Michael will sit the four humans down and workmwith them to avoid retirement.ü, Shawn already told him what would happen if he fails, so the show could become Michael and the four working together, he wants to avoid retirement and tjey don't want to go to an actual bad place, it would be better to stay in the fake good place.

That was pretty close to how I reacted.

Yeah, that was great, and I loved the guy who kept wanting to bit everyone. They also referenced some pretty creative and disturbing forms of torture.

Now I've seen the finale. That's a nice twist. It really elevates the show and makes it more clever. Also casts all the characters in a different light, that all four of them were not such great people, but two of them THOUGHT they were great people.

Haven't seen the premiere yet, but very curious if their personalities also reset to the moment of death or if they will subconsciously have grown from the lessons they learned the first time around.

Janet seems to have something lingering after getting erased, otherwise why take Jason to Eleanor's? Unless that was just a completely random way to get everyone there and you're not supposed to think about it too much.

No one is nice to Jason except Janet, it's almost as if she respects him.

Unless he's also into Bad Janet, respect feels like love, if you don't experience respect all that often.

One other great thing about this finale is it makes the viewers realize how much they had been mind controlled.

I never once questioned Chidi and Tahini were saintly people, even through all the flashbacks we saw of them where they kinda sucked.

The audience were just as much victims of the prank as the characters.

That point isn't clear. Strongest evidence that she is is that the neutral place video supported the narrative of Michael and Ben's fiction. But if Janet is not in on the game, Michael could have never predicted stealing the train and going there.
