The Good Place Season 2

Watched the S2 premiere. I did not find it quite as funny as the S1 premiere. I did love the "going to the gym" recurring joke. That was great! The show is still very interesting from a metaphysical/philosophical perspective. It brings up interesting questions. It will be interesting to see what the plot twist this season will be but I doubt that they can top the fantastic twist at the end of S1. We shall see. I am hopeful for the show. Love the characters.

I hope they don't plan to hit the reset button too much. The main characters repeatedly figuring out where they really are and forcing a reset could get tiresome.

Michael's boss is really breathing down his neck, and he's already made it clear that Michael won't get a "third" chance, so I think we've seen the last reset.

I think the writers know they can't just repeat the same thing over and over and keep the audience. There may be one episode with multiple montaged resets but I think they will drop it after that.

What I'm hoping is that Eleanor somehow figures it out, but also figures out that she has to play it cool and play along. At least that's the only path forward I can think of that would keep the show fresh for another season.

Anyone else think Michael played it way too over the top the second time around? The first time seemed plausible from the humans' perspective, but it's not going to work if they don't at least get a few days of it actually feeling like paradise before it sours.

Making things feel torturous before the humans have adapted to paradise as 'The new normal' will never feel right to them. For Michael's plan to work, it has to start out actually feeling great then gradually changing into something torturous.

I just decided in my headcanon, The Good Place takes place in the same universe as the episode of the Twilight Zone with the dead gambler.

I think this time, in the third round, Michael forgot to reset Janet.

It's also possible that Real Elanor could get into a conspiracy with one of the humans to get a better part in the show.

Now that I think about it I like the way they made Chidi a satire on liberal guilt.

His self conscious overanalysyd made all his friends miserable and he thinks the worst this he did was use almond milk.

She had a new outfit, that means she was rebooted.

Forgetting about her of all things would also be impossible, Michael knows she was used by Eleanor to ruin version 2, he even points that out to the demons and calls her for the "no note" demonstration. He might forget an inconsequential detail but not Janet.

Ooh, new theory.

All of Seinfeld takes place in the Bad Place.

Think about it. Every single other person they meet spends the series conspiring to put them in really socially uncomfortable situations. They're really demons!

That episode went about how I thought it would, the montage of failed attempts. Only I thought the ending would be the characters would resolve to pretend they don't know. It should be fun seeing now Michael is forced to find ways not to torture them in exchange for them acting like they're being tortured.

I laughed out loud when Michael gave up trying and had let himself go, unshaven, fat, in his sweat pants.

Isn't that the time Eleanor was sitting in the room while he was recording? Hilarious.

I liked his reaction when Jason was the one to figure it out.

Who knew something so repetitious and something like Cause and Effect would be so funny. Great episode last night and I'm glad they are actually going in this direction to move the plotline forward. I too loved Michael's reaction when Jason figured it out. The only downside was this episode probably needed more Tahani.

This was a good episode, as usual. Hopefully Michael will fill the gang (and us) in more on the way the afterlife is really set-up.

Anybody who saw the movie Groundhog Day... ;)

Yeah, this episode had a lot of funny moments. It was a big improvement over the season premiere IMO.

I was still hoping that the gang would conspire together to pretend like they don't know, just to mess with Michael. Torture him for a change.

This episode reminded me of groundhog day a lot, but I watched Cause and Effect last night and that was the first thing to come to mind.

Yeah, Jason figuring it out was funny. So was the time Eleanor overheard Michael saying it.

I thought this episode felt a little off at times. The humor felt a bit forced with Jason running around with the sprinkler but I liked when he didn't get Eleanor's description of him ("Do me!"). :)

It's going to be weird changing the dynamic with Michael.
