Spoilers The Good Place - Season 1

I meant, are the people she's there with making her a worse person, the same way Chidi is making Eleanor a better person?

I like the idea that the other Eleanore is having a good influence on the people in the bad place rather than the other way round. It would also give the bad place architect a reason to want to get rid of her.

It still all feels like a grand test to me. Even the 'evil' architect isn't all that evil, nevermind with him offering up yet another moral test for Eleanor. Add on to that all of the questions that Michael asked her earlier on -- all of which she conveniently were able to answer truthfully 'proving' her to not be a bad person -- and it just... they can't all be that oblivious.

Well, they say that bad influences can corrupt a good person. I would imagine that the people in the bad place would try to corrupt the good Eleanor, maybe not on purpose per se, but just being there. Of course, it is possible that the good Eleanor was able to resist the corrupting influence and remain good. We do need to keep in mind that the bad Eleanor had to fake being good for awhile to hide the mistake because she was afraid of going to the bad place. The good Eleanor would have wanted to leave and go to the Good Place so she would not have had the same reason to want to fake being bad. Maybe the good Eleanor immediately told them that it was a mistake and begged to be let go? I also get the impression that the Bad Place Architect is not as naive and clueless as Michael. He might have figured out pretty quickly on his own that the good Eleanor was there by mistake.

This was my favorite episode yet. I didn't expect to get a story like this for a long time.
The gag with Janet and the cacti was hilarious. I loved Micheal's reactions to her, Ted Danson really is killing it.
I've been wondering if there was another Eleanor Shelstrop, so it was nice to get confirmation that there was. I wonder if the people in The Bad Place have been having the same kind of effect on their Eleanor as the people in The Good Place have had on theirs?
Adam Scott was hilarious as The Bad Place Architect.
I wonder if they will address what happened with Jian Yu/Jason Mendoza? It can't have just been a name thing since he's not using his real name.
I just saw on Wikipedia that the other Eleanor is being played by the actress who voices Sabine on Star Wars: Rebels.

Whoever is playing Janet might be my favorite unknown actor on the show. She reminds me a lot of Amy Poehler from Parks and Rec and just everything she's doing makes me laugh a lot. The cactus gag never got old and Michael's reactions were great.

I know it's not Parks and Rec, but seeing Adam Scott in last night's episode and just the comedy of this show in general is filling that Parks and Rec need that I missed. If Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is filling that same role for 30 Rock, this show is doing the same for Parks and Rec and I love it, and yes I know both shows are by the same guy. Makes me wish I had caught on to Brooklyn 99.

Michael was very funny as usual, and Ted Danson is perfect for the role. The Hawaiian Pizza, the worst Pizza.
The bad place dude was funny too. The only food served on train to bad place was room temperature clam chowder. LOL

Yeah, this show is my favorite new comedy. I love the universe building and all the quirky little things that make you wind up in The Bad Place. The questionnaire was hilarious. In our house we've started referring to things that annoy us as qualities that will make you wind up in The Bad Place.

Adam Scott being The Bad Place Architect was a pleasant surprise and I hope he has a recurring role and is not just a one-off appearance. As happy as I was to see Eleanor's friends stick up for her and keep her around, I had hoped to get a glimpse of what The Bad Place is actually like, so hopefully she sacrifices herself to free the other Eleanor and temporarily goes to TBP, only to have her noble gesture result in her earning a genuine return to TGP.

I thought the interaction between Janet and Michael this week was hilarious, and I find Janet to be the most consistently funny aspect of the show.

I really like that they haven't dragged things out and have given us such major developments so early in the series. I didn't expect Eleanor's reveal and the danger of her being sent to TBP to come up so quickly.

I think rather than seeing out Eleanor in The Bad Place, at this point I'd rather get flashbacks to what was happening to the other Eleanor while she was there.

The good place and bad place communities have to be divvied up by year, which means that punishment and reward systems are temporally specific... Otherwise, where are the cave people and everyone else prelanguage?

I thought they should've just left the dress bitch shirt on Adam Scott without calling attention to it, seemed to kill the joke a little to explain it. I didn't know this was a thing until recently but some women probably got a kick out of him telling Eleanor that's she should smile more. This series has been funnier than I expected, I love some of the things that are listed as evil deeds.

Though on a serious note, Eleanor risking eternal damnation is a pretty huge leap in her redemption.

EDIT: I was thinking about this episode and it would have been funny if Trevor had been wearing the red boots.

Great episode! Loved seeing the Bad Janet. The karaoke scenes were hilarious! Michael awkwardly dancing to "who let the dogs out" was hilarious and the Bad People lip syncing to the Nixon Tapes was a stroke of comedic genius. This show really does have excellent comedic timing in its jokes, to the credit of the actors and the direction. Adam Scott was again excellent as the Bad Architect, suitably devilish and a jerk. Good Eleanor was perfectly cast. She was exactly what you would imagine the right Eleanor to go to the Good Place would be like: sweet, kind, overcoming adversity and still doing good for others. It was clear that she and Chidi are soul mates.

The fact that the mix up was a very rare set of events (How often would 2 people with the exact same name die at exactly the same time and in exactly the same place?) makes me think that the error is genuine and not some sort of cosmic test.

I don't think Michael is faking it. I think he really is incredibly innocent and naive. I think that is the point: as the architect of the Good Place, he would be the stereotypical "nice guy". It was good to see him finally stand up for himself. The show seems to have this theme of people growing. Eleanor is growing into a good person and Michael is growing into a less naive person.

Um, what episode are you talking about???

Ah, it wasn't broadcast and isn't yet available on NBC's website. And I'm not selling my soul to Hulu for one episode of a show.

I don't know if you mean locally or what but it was broadcast where I'm at.
I can't go back that far in the dvr listings to see what they showed instead, but it wasn't scheduled and wasn't recorded here.

I did just watch it on NBC.com though. good episode.

It was probably the football game. Are you in or near Atlanta or Tampa Bay?
