I registered as Inebriated Slime Devil. Don't know how often I'll post there though since I already have two forums to discuss this on.

Maybe I'll just go on, badmouth everyone on the cast and crew, and then kiss their ass if they eventually show up. You know, so I can blend in.

Just requestered. Probaly won't post much, but I got my username reserved. Atleast folks from here will recognized the screen name and hopefully, won't flame me into the ether of cyberspace.... Just 'poking around', it looks like it has all the potential of being a free-for-all over there. Hope they have more than just two moderators that actual DO something. Would hate for it to just degenerate into StarTrek.com troll board.

Actually, you are partly right.

After over 5 years of being a mod here, I don't like that feeling of powerlessness over jackassery that I get when I go to boards that are WAY out of control.

I mean, I don't mind a bit more combat than perhaps we have here - in fact, it might even be somewhat liberating to say exactly what I think for a change.

But if a place is out of control and chest-high in serious assholes....well, let's just say that I get really frustrated at my inability to at least TRY to bring some order to the universe.

Well, come on....I don't think anyone is standing up in defense of torture here, Dennis.

I think it's more that we are against protesting torture in a movie, when we don't even know if it is IN the movie yet.

I mean, there are alot more important things for these guys to crusade about than the possibility that torture might possibly be depicted in the as-yet unrevealed plot of a piece of fictional entertainment that is still a year away.

If they want to protest Gitmo, I'm there. If they want to protest the gulags that Dubya has got goin' on in Eastern Europe and elsewhere, sign me the hell up. In fact, I'm ALREADY signed the hell up.

But seriously - protesting the possibility of torture being depicted in a piece of science fiction entertainment that barely into production is a bit much, you know?

I hate lima beans. I think they're disgusting, and the very sight of them makes me sick to my stomach. I think we should start a petition wherein we ask J.J. Abrams not to have any of the characters eat lima beans during this movie. No, I have no information that anyone will eat them, or that they will even be seen, but it never hurts to be sure... :thumbsup:

As a guy who likes lima beans, I'm going to start a petition against those petitioning that there be no lima beans in ST:XI.

There better be lima beans, or at least garbanzo beans, on screen or I'm boycotting this movie.
