^ No, our aforementioned "Trekkie against torture".

Whew! You had me scared there for a minute!

Re: The Forums On The Official "Star Trek" Movie Site Are Op

I'm afraid I was too busy setting up my account to post yet.

Got to have a new Wixiban avatar, you know. ;)

Re: The Forums On The Official "Star Trek" Movie Site Are Op

I just read your smart, well-reasoned rebuttal of his petition. I'm sure he'll dodge the issue quicker than a politician on speed, but at least you put it out there.

He just has.

Sudddenly, I have an overwhelming desire to register as TBonz.

Re: The Forums On The Official "Star Trek" Movie Site Are Op

Decided to dive into the Trekkies Against Troture thread, always fun to do some troll baiting away from the TBBS mods :D (kidding, love you guys really)

Glad I wasn't the only one

ETA: Take a peek at some of the signatures over there - this guy VADBAXTER has one that's a full screen height long :scream: many many thanks to Tbonz and AntonyF for keeping them out of the TrekBBS

I see that guy with the "Trekkies Against Torture" petition has already set up shop.

And the first reply to him was, "So I take it you're not a fan of the SAW movies?"

Priceless. Is he getting involved in any debates? I might go over there if he is, I enjoy the rigors of heated and skilled arguments but sometimes it's just fun to engage in gleeful demolition work on such an innately silly premise. :)

If you like Straw Man, you'll LOVE him...

I think it's more that we are against protesting torture in a movie, when we don't even know if it is IN the movie yet.
I hate lima beans. I think they're disgusting, and the very sight of them makes me sick to my stomach. I think we should start a petition wherein we ask J.J. Abrams not to have any of the characters eat lima beans during this movie. No, I have no information that anyone will eat them, or that they will even be seen, but it never hurts to be sure...

I think this was Harlan Ellison's logic with the recent Guardian of Forever incident.

Re: The Forums On The Official "Star Trek" Movie Site Are Op

I decided to register there, but will probably never post there, as I'm trying to avoid stuff about this new movie. *Runs away*

Seems pretty lame over there... thet're still slogging through conversations that were essentially completed over here weeks ago.

So. We'll probably have the same conversations here over and over, especially as this year goes on with the new movie.

true but they're at the level of "ZOMG!!! PICTURES OF QUINTO AS SPOCK --- NEW SPOILERS!!!"

Yeah, well, people can be slow on the uptake. :p

Anyway, I like the board so far. The honeymoon period will probably ware off soon, but one of the better things about it is that it's on Vbullitin and I've never used that board software before. It's a nice preview to when this board moves.

Re: The Forums On The Official "Star Trek" Movie Site Are Op

Awesome!

I just got banned from the Official Star Trek Movie message boards! :guffaw:

It's true. Here's what greeted me tonight:

You have been banned for the following reason:
No reason was specified.

Date the ban will be lifted: Never

Wow. Must be new, power-trippy moderators there.

Now, which new screen name should I create...

Re: The Forums On The Official "Star Trek" Movie Site Are Op

Got a warning in a PM for calling that Torture dude a troll. Sent a PM back to the moderator saying, "no way." I admit I was a little wise, but didn't swear or curse him out. I mean I've seen far, far worse here on the public boards. This was in a silly PM. And I got the ultimate perma-ban smackdown for it. Ouch!

Guess they're serious about stuff over there. Oh well...

Re: The Forums On The Official "Star Trek" Movie Site Are Op

I'm registered - big surprise, I'm using the name TorontoTrekker there too. ;)

(There's something to be said for familiarity even though the convention from which I took my screen name changed its name over a year ago.)
