THE FORCE UNLEASHED - discussion

You keep the force upgrades when you play again?

Thats a first.

Stuck at the spinning rings of doom in the death star.

^You can choose to keep your force upgrades / unlocks etc. by replaying with your character, yes. Though if you want to start with a totally new character you can do that too (by choosing "new game" and picking a different save slot).

Ya, or else The hardest mode you have to unlock would be pretty much impossible starting from scratch.

For the rings, as soon as the beam stops firing, run out to the center, look at the glowing things and force grip, you move the rings individualy to the positions they're in when the beam is firing, the walkways will extend.

New Game+. It's an old Japanese concept designed to encourage replayablility.
Of course, I think it was FFX where you HAD to do that in order to see the real ending...

I'm actually looking forward to beating the game to do a real playthrough with all of my powers. I want to really crush anyone and anything at anytime. Now, I have to be picky or I will get overwhelmed.

Thanks for the tip, I am now wondering what the point of the save game feature is, when

A) there is no load game feature, and..
B) When you die it loads from the previous checkpoint, not where you saved anyway.

Just started on the Bull Rancer fight.
Kinda pissed because I saw a bunch of the force cube thinggies in the previous level but couldn't reach them. They were up in the rocks and I couldn't seem to jump high enough to get them.

I know it's a silly complaint, but I wish your lightsaber color and costume translated onto the cutscenes. It's kind of odd when you're running around in the Sith Robe with a gold lightsaber, and then a pre-rendered cutscene comes on with Starkiller in whatever default costume he's supposed to be wearing at that point, with the default lightsaber color. I guess I'm just spoiled by Mass Effect. :p

 I was thinking the same thing myself!

There are several games this gen that translates you new outfit into the cut scenes, the devs just dropped the ball on that one.

And what is up with him being always so dirty with tattered clothing?
He looks like a little ragga-muffin.
I understand he would look that way after the missions but he looks that way in the cut scenes before the fights.

BTW I'm wearing the Sith robe as well.
I don't know what it is but I seem to play better wearing it.
I know its silly but for some reason I do.

Actually I had that very complaint with Mass Effect the other day. Ashley saw fit to change her armour in the time it took her to enter the ship, grab a nuke and start setting it up. :p

I'm playing it second time round, but you can only get the things you missed the first time round.

So you get a force sphere if you do the seconary objectives or reach a certain amount of force, but if you got them last time, then it wont do you any good this time.

Is there any way to skip the cut scenes?

Yeah I'm gonna have to get some of the cube on my second go around.
It's kinda frustrating to spend 20 min try to figure out a way to jump up and grab one when you actually want to continue playing the game to see what comes next.
I'm not sure I'll finish my blue upgrades by the end of the game but strangely I finished the red about half way into the game.
I'm sitting on 4 red points with nothing to spend them on. :(
I'm pretty close on the yellow ones.

The cutscenes hide background loading of the next level - you're only able to skip them after the loading is complete - which usually means you can skip the last half or so of the cutscene.

If you keep pressing X repeatedly during the cutscene you'll see the glowing force unleashed logo in the lower right corner while background loading is taking place, and then when it finishes X will skip the rest of the scene.

Oh yeah! She was wearing that white-and-pink armor again in that scene, wasn't she? I'd forgotten about that.

Stupid pre-rendered cutscenes!

All that work to get the black saber crystal, and it sucks, I'm sticking with unstable purple and the jedi adventure robes.

Black lightsabers are dumb anyway. I wasn't surprised when I found out one was going to be in TFU. Everything about the game screamed "kewl fanboi wankfest" from the very beginning. Of course, that hasn't stopped me from playing. :p
