Spoilers The Flash - Season 5

Wasn’t really a fan of this episode. In fact other than the Iris story and Dracula I was bored. This season is still meandering by and now it feels like an eternity ago when we had the mid season finale. Also in 3 of the four episodes in 2019, Barry has not done Flash stuff that much, and the last two episodes he hasn’t done anything at all. This series for some reason in the last few years has decided that coming back from the midsession finale they have to stall to May. We were told this season that there would be multiple storylines and there was even a hint of a new rouge group. I have a feeling that isn’t happening.

In terms of Sherlouque, that story was dumb. Basically my feeling of excitement at the mid season break has turned into boredom with this show and that is too bad. Maybe something good will happen in the next month, or we get another hiatus before the real stuff happens in May.

The episode was ok. Certainly not a great episode. Iris going all alone to break into Cicada's house at night was super dumb.

It just seems like this episode was designed to pad the season since the writers are not ready to give us the next big twist yet in the story arc. So Team Flash fails to get the mcguffin to stop Cicada. And we are introducing a love interest for Sherloque so that he will be distracted and won't figure out Nora's secret yet.

I do think the episode dropped an interesting tidbit about the toastmaster guns. If the guns get out, bad guys will be able to kill a lot of cops. Hopefully, this threat will be followed up later.

Weren't Toastmasters the weapons that John Henry Irons/Steel invented and then tried to get off the streets when they fell into criminal hands? I would've expected them to show up first on Supergirl.

I really wish they followed through and went with the "Once Upon A Time" split seasons/arc storytelling either that or move the story along and lets get through these 23 episodes with some substance.

It was a nice diversion, but I didn’t pay much attention to the episode to be honest.

I would rather have straight up episodic storytelling if they don’t have enough story to fill a season. This is getting ridiculous.

Yes. Don't remember if they came up previously, but i definitely remember them in the 'Death of Superman' storyline as part of Steel's backstory, part of what Guardian was dealing with, etc.

And yes, Flash isn't good at moving the story along. Definitely too long between introducing a villain, screwing around a little, and then just stalling until the final two episodes of the season so they can deal with it in an underwhelming solution that could have happened by November.

Supergirl has the same problem at times, are we still even dealing with the Agent of Liberty thing, outside of a random thug in a mask?

So without powers, Iris can hold her own and hurt Cicada, but the actual heroes can't?

I suppose you could argue that Cicada may not have been fighting to kill, since Iris isn't a meta and he may have a "normals are off-limits" rule. He let his guard drop a bit more than he would fighting to the death.

Of course, with an obvious weak spot like that Barry should be zipping Oliver over to snipe him in the chest wound, but hey-ho.

Yeah, can't poke the logic or it all falls apart too easily. Flash's powers are just too over the top. I mean, most of his enemies are defeated by punching, and the guy can move so fast that time stands still (Flash Time). How does he ever lose? Because he has to fight the plot AND the bad guy. Also, time travel and changing things is bad per the show, but that's bigger things. Would an occasional 10 second rewind harm anything?

I know fighting speedsters was getting boring, but his speed gives him such an advantage that nothing else makes sense logically. Even The Thinker, yeah, interesting for a moment, but plenty of opportunities to Flash Time and end the threat. Terrible television, but how it should logically work. Kinda like all the times someone escapes from Barry or Kara because they were distracted for a second. Pretty sure the Flash could catch up to them, no? Nope, let them go, regroup, and we'll fight them in April or May when the finale is closer, after trading witty barbs for a few months.

Did it come across that way to you? Did it look like Cicada was holding back?

I'll call it what it is--bad writing.

Cicada escaping was just baffling to me. Why not just knock him out before he “flies off”?
These writers need a damn good talking to.

I love it that the first time the clock in STAR Labs said 8:07 PM, it was at exactly 8:07 PM Eastern. Although they obviously didn't stick with that.

I'm tired of time-loop stories; I've never liked the repetition, which can get boring. And the subplot about Cisco's date was just lame -- "just be yourself" was the obvious answer from the start. But I did like it that it was a voluntary time loop for a change, that the looper was doing it on purpose. Though I don't get why Nora didn't just tell the truth sooner. And the ending made no damn sense from a physical or causal standpoint.

Yeah, isn't Barry outside of time when in the speed force? He should have popped out during the second time through.

Oh look, another episode where the show Stalled it's storyline again. Cicada got away, again. We still haven't done much with Thawne in 2049 other than for some reason he's being helpful now, and the show is going on a 3 week hiatus. Oh, and another episode where "The Flash" isn't doing very much "Flashing" stuff. I'm kind of over this show trying to be "The Nora Show". I wish we got back to The Flash.

I enjoyed this episode despite its flaws. The time loop episode has become a TV trope but considering that this show involves a speedster that can time travel, it's a trope that fits the show well. This episode certainly felt like it belonged on The Flash.

Some observations:
- We sideline the Flash again!
- The episode really glossed over some plot holes like when Nora explains that she cannot get Barry and cannot time travel more than 1 hour because... she can't.
- This episode really highlighted how young and inexperienced Nora is as a speedster. She stubbornly keeps trying to fix things instead of getting help sooner or just thinking for a second. Heck, speedsters perceive time as moving slower when you are in the Speed Force, so you would think that Nora should have had enough time to push the member of Team Flash out of the way of the dagger.
- Regarding the 52 failed attempts, shouldn't there be 52 Nora time remnants running around?
- Yeah, Cisco's date was kinda silly. It was obvious that Cisco needed to be himself. And it was a bit ridiculous seeing Cisco pretend to be something he is not.
- I did like Cisco's chat with Nora but I especially loved Barry's broken cup talk with Nora at the end. It was nice to see Barry using the same cup analogy that the other Flash used with him. It seems Barry is becoming wiser. And It was great seeing Barry becoming the wise mentor now.
- It will be interesting to see what Thawne meant by saving her dad. Is Thawne trying to prevent the Crisis where Barry disappears because that would also save him? Or is Thawne talking about a different event where Barry dies?

I presume that was because Barry's entry into the Speed Force created some kind of interference that Nora couldn't get past. The entire action of this episode took place during Barry's time in the Speed Force, so presumably that "anchored" Nora within that span of time.

What bugged me was, why did she always come to a stop on the far side of the roof instead of just whooshing the hostage away while the dagger was circling?

Apparently this is the kind of time loop where she replaced her past self or merged with it.

It's already been made clear over the season that what drives Nora is the desire to prevent the Flash's disappearance in the Crisis, so naturally that's what Thawne is offering as the incentive for Nora's cooperation. Plus, of course, we know that the Crisis will be next season's crossover, so this season is setting it up.

CNN is reporting that the Great Time Wraith Strike of 2019 may cause hazardous anomalies over much of the Mid East to Mid West. The leader of the Time Wraith union threatened that its membership would not return to work unless they got better working conditions, health care, and Gary from the Time Bureau reenacting scenes from The Time Tunnel. With puppets...

If traveling please make sure to carry your tachyon reinforced headgear and umbrellas with you...

It looks like Team Flash need to keep a semblance of integrity in the main timeline, but in a timeline where they will get erased, they get a free reign. They can be villains, murderers, dishonest jackasses, complete buffoons. ‘Being yourself’ is sometimes more difficult when you're as insecure as Cisco was at that moment, but playing complete makeover dress-up, making fabricated stories about who he is, lying his ass off, and trying to be the actor who's playing him to fake an identity – I suspect some people might do that, but Cisco would only if the timeline would be erased.
