Spoilers The Flash - Season 2

They could go and throw everybody for a loop, take The Legend of Korra's approach to female former romantic rivals. :shifty:

I would not object to that...

And hey, who knows? The Arrowverse has been pretty LGBT-friendly so far (Sara and Nyssa, Captain Singh and his new husband, the upcoming Mister Terrific).

Not until after you've killed Ronnie and Iris.

Siri is a modern oracle, the depository of all information on the planet, screwed into a helpful fine point.

Iris is the opposite of Siri.

It does sort of remind of when Heather Hudson was the one to get Alpha Flight back together at the start of Byrne's run.

Sounds good to me. The only reason Iris was a weak link in season 1 was because of Joe's condescending and wrong decision to keep her out of the loop. Once she was in on the secret in the last couple of episodes, she immediately became an invaluable and welcome member of the team. This is just building on that. It seems like a natural progression.

I don't think they actually mean she's going to be filling the exact role Wells did, just that she's the one who brings the team back together.

But John was in love Heather. As far as he was concerned she was the only character. Everything else in that book was just sugar coating to make us care about the adventures of a secretary with big glasses.

Iris is a piece of corn stuck in Andrew's teeth who he can't figure out how to spit out or swallow.

That's not what the article says.

The article could be a misleading lie, but she's going to be wearing the pants in this relationship, as far as someone barking orders into a headset can.

Think about it, without Cisco and Caitlin in his ear, this show would have no dialogue.

Barry sees a problem. Runs. Maybe punches a little, and then goes back to work in his lab.

I hope that's the case. She's the newbie to team Flash, and definitely doesn't have the experience or personality of a leader.

Also, because it was mentioned above, I didn't think Iris was weak because of Barry/Joe keeping Barry's secret from her. I just thought she was kind of annoying and really added nothing to the story but to be Barry's unrequited love interest. She didn't get better when she learned the secret, she still didn't really do anything or change as a character. Like I said, I don't dislike her (and as the required love interest she's 1000x less annoying than Felicity, although at least Felicity was, at one time, helpful to Olliver's crime fighting work), but none of my problems with the character are related to her not knowing the secret.

My biggest problem with Iris is that she was written as a "fan girl" rather than as a serious reporter. One of the strengths of Iris West (Pre-COIE) before she was murdered was that she was a strong character and a huge support for Barry. This is why her death was so devastating to him as a character because he relied on her so much. For Iris to be taken seriously in this series she needs to be written more seriously as a strong willed, intelligent, thoughtful, yet caring individual.

Eh... she could be a leader. Of sorts. I wouldn't really call it a natural progession and I doubt she'll be the cool, calm and collected leader that Wells was, but she's smart enough and determined enough to grow into the role. And really, outside of introducing a new character to take Wells' place or just not having anyone really taking charge at all, she's probably the best choice. Joe could do the job, but as a cop, he can't possibly justify constant absences. Caitlyn is too insecure and uncertain. Cisco couldn't lead if his life depended on it. Barry has to be the one out in the field doing the heavy lifting. And I would say the quote in the article that she's sometimes the only person who can stand up to Barry is pretty accurate, and that's ultimately one of the most important qualifications for the part. She can always still leave the technical stuff to Caitlyn and Cisco.

I don't know why they need a leader. Oliver is his teams leader, and he's always out in the field, and its not like Felicity is Diggle/Roy/Laurel/Thea's leader. Iris is a newbie who doesn't really know about anything that goes into their job, and quite frankly was fairly mediocre as a reporter and blogger. She really has no character traits or qualifications to be anything to Team Flash outside of moral support, much less a leader. I hope she doesn't try to "lead" anything. But, its the one bad thing I can easily see Flash doing. They shoved her down the audiences throat for a whole season, but it was tolerable because she didn't really effect anything. hopefully she won't become the Felicity of Flash (a former side character who becomes the most useless, obnoxious character on the show).
