Spoilers The Flash - Season 2

So Tom Cavanagh's Season 3 role is likely to be the real Wells from Earth-1, who was never killed.

If his wife never died, would that mean there will be a E1 Jessie?

But that also would mean Barry would return to a timeline where the accelerator hasn't been activated...meaning he shouldn't be the Flash for a while yet.

Oh, I'm sure they'll have him eventually restore things and wave himself off...the future Barry who waved him off last season had to come from somewhere.

E1 Jesse...how old is Jesse supposed to be?

  • Great finale even though it only confirmed what we suspected. Shipp was Jay Garrick.
  • Love the costume.
  • The story of Barry's dad ran its course and now he has a better role. I look forward to seeing more of Shipp as Jay Garrick in seasons to come.
  • 90s Flash may or may not remain an easter egg but at least we have something more solid to suggest that there's an Earth with his Flash on it.
  • So much for the season of speedsters. Jesse Quick and Kid Flash will have to wait.

Wow what an ending...But looks like we got what we speculated for this season for next season

Oh, and another previous speculation/wish fulfilled

Well, I guess we still needed a reason for future Flash to shake his head (telling younger Flash not to save his mother). Obviously, future Flash knew something about the consequences of saving his mother, and I assume next season will involve Flash learning those reasons and then going back in time to stop himself and shake his head at younger Flash.

I highly doubt the whole series has been erased. At least not for good. I am very glad they are exploring this. After now losing both his parents it would be crazy to think he would not try to go back and save one or both of them.

That was... kind of an underwhelming season finale to be honest. It's weird - all the pieces were there, but something just felt off about the entire thing.

I thought the time-remnant sacrificing himself to do the Crisis on Infinite Earths scene could've been good, but it didn't feel earned or tragic. Something like that should've been a culmination or a real moment of drama, not a plot convenience.

Having Speed Force Wraiths carry Hunter off was a good conclusion and the effects were good, but again... rushed.

Not giving the real Jay any scenes with Barry and hardly any contact at all with him felt like a real missed opportunity. Solid costume and I'm glad he kept the helmet, but this better not be the last we see of him. And really Zoom's whole monologue to Joe explaining him, and that he came from another Earth, came off almost as "oh we need to explain this quickly."

I'm honestly very disappointed we didn't see any hint of Jessie's powers. I'll assume they're saving those for next season.

Saving Barry's mom was... kind of foreshadowed, and it's going to be very strange where things go from here since I'm assuming this will lead to a bad future Flashpoint-style. How will this affect Arrow, if at all? Are we going to have for the first half or so of the next season two "timelines"? Is everything Earth-2 related going to be done away with and we'll see Barry's parents alive, but no Jay or Harry or Jessie?

I don't mean to come across as just a list of complaints, because overall I liked it. It just felt... rushed, punnishly enough.

The problem with that is that the future Flash would be shaking his head at the wrong Flash..

^ Yeah, I'm sure you're right. Might have to wait till the Flashpoint stuff gets resolved though. Or maybe not. Hopefully not.

Oh that's a good point.

FYI John Wesley Shipp had to cancel a UK convention appearance at the end of July. He did not give a reason but usually when actors do that it's because they have work that conflicts. At the CW up fronts Grant said he got about a month Break before season 3 begins filming.

Maybe he'll be back to playing Barry's dad in the past/changed timeline.

Well, there would be three Flashes plus little Barry in that scenario. Oldest Flash would have to physically stop middle Flash (without either youngest Flash or little Barry seeing middle Flash and oldest Flash together) and then shake his head at youngest Flash so that he doesn't leave the closet to also try to save his mother.

That's easy enough - oldest Flash confronts and stops middle Flash on the street outside. Little Barry's out of the picture before Middle Flash runs into the house anyway.
