True, but French is the official language of the United Nations. But that doesn't mean we all have to speak French in the USA.

1. French is an official language of the United Nations. The UN has several, including English, French, Spanish, and Arabic.
2. The United Nations is not a government or a state. It is an intergovernmental organization to which most states belong, but it is still nothing like the Federation or its Starfleet (pretty pictures with olive branches aside).
