I'm going to try this out. Seems that the mods don't seem to mind. I'm not going to post in this thread for at least two years.
I have changed a lot in the past two years, probably the most throughout the past year - which as of this moment would be 2025. 2025 was a good year but it was a fairly safe year - I didn't really achieve a whole lot on a personal level outside of becoming more open to things.
While yes, there is a lot of things I would like to change in the past. I've mapped it out in my head - what I would do, what people I would avoid. Unless I happen to discover Time Travel, things are as they are. It is what it is. I think that is one of the things that makes our reality unique, is that there is no going back. That creates a sense of novelty which can be either positive or negative depending on your perception of it. Human minds live in their own bubbles, only experiencing things individually. While you do get glimpses into other people's lives, you never truly know all the ins and outs of other people.
By saying what I am saying now, I'm just speaking to myself here. I'm not interested in a political debate or discussion with others based off what I am saying here. We all have our reasons for thinking about things, and I'm outlining my own here. If someone here disagrees with something I say, I kindly ask you to move along.
2025 was the year where I finally let go of any political loyalties and leanings - truly allowing my mind to open up, to embrace what it means to be independent. I've hardened my stances on various issues. There are no saviors coming to save us. Every person has to figure things out for themselves, and we all have to do our do diligence not to fall into group-think or culture warfare. I don't think that the 2028 Election will be any better than the previous ones. Either way, unless something truly drastic happens, I'm not going to vote for the Democrats. I don't like the Republicans either, but there isn't much about the Democrats or their policies that endears me to their cause. All I see is utter hatred on both sides, and no actual pragmatic solutions that will improve the lives of the citizens. Right now, in March of 2026 there is the Iran War - a wasteful, stupid, and silly war for the sake of Israel.
All that money being wasted and lives being killed for nothing makes me sick. I won't vote for anyone with the name "Trump" either, thats for sure. Everyone, even if they don't want to admit it are tired of Trump and just want to move on to something newer. However I don't want that to come at the cost of a truly radical, insane opposition which will burn this country down to the ground in order to defeat Trump. I want common sense thinking that is in line with the Constitution - a limited government, by the people, for the people that is withdrawn from international affairs in order to focus on repairing our issues. The takeaway I have out of all this is that politicians aren't to be trusted whether they be red nor blue. They must be kept under a leash by the people, and for that reason at this time I hope that Thomas Massie wins the GOP nomination over that of Rubio or Vance. Massie is one of the very few Republicans who aren't a cultist and he has my respect for standing up to both parties due to his own principles. Majorie Taylor Greene is someone who I would also consider voting for, she's moved away from the cultist camp, recanted a lot of her earlier points while still maintaining emphasis on "America Only", and maintaining the push against elitism on both sides of the aisle. Later this year in 2026, I'll be voting in the Midterms. Who I will vote for really depends on how the races turn out to be. We'll see. If things continue going as they are now, MAGA is a sinking ship and more and more people will no longer wish to associate with them. I refuse to associate with a political movement which seeks to make the United States a political and economic piggy bank for Israel, a hostile foreign power which has gotten us involved in so much conflict. It isn't America First at this point for me, it is Citizens First. We, the people of this country deserve reasonable healthcare, cheap gas, and the ability to work a single job to support ourselves and our families without living paycheck to paycheck. We the people also deserve to get the government off of our backs, to come to our own evidence based independent conclusions without peer pressure or the constant hero worship that goes about political daily life these days. MAGA has betrayed the foundation of why people voted for them, and I don't expect people to turn out to vote for them in high numbers like before.
Politics aside, 2026 and the following year will likely be years of tremendous personal change and growth on a far more personal level. I seek to get out in the world more, work hard, and keep moving forward. While the past is something I think about a lot, nostalgia is a very comfortable thought for me - I can't live my life based on that. I already have a few plans for the future and I want to also travel more, go on nice vacations, really enjoy life. I don't know what the rest of 2026, 2027, or even 2028 will hold for me, or for the world, but I am reminding myself to take it one day at a time and to focus on what I can actually control.
