The Final Ten Count Down Poll

I don't see the point of trying to find a 'favorite episode'

I think it's very interesting to see if other folks have the same opinion of certain good episodes as I do, but when we get to the point of finding a number one episode--I think it's pointless and I don't care so I didn't vote.

But 8 of the top ten listed are in my highest rated category, so I feel most folks generally think like I do about the better episodes.
I find that reassuring.

My five:

Amok Time
Balance of Terror
City on the Edge of Forever
Doomsday Machine
Mirror, Mirror

These are in my top 10 favorites. All of these deal with the interaction of the Big 3, their relationship with each other, and conflict that changes or shows their personality.

In my top 5, I have Arena instead of Amok Time.

A lot of my favorites aren't in the top 10 but choosing from what's left:

The Doomsday Machine
Journey to Babel
Amok Time
Balance of Terror
Where No Man Has Gone Before

Balance of Terror, The Cage, The City on the Edge of Forever, The Corbomite Maneuver and The Doomsday Machine.

Balance of Terror
Mirror, Mirror
The City on the Edge of Forever
The Corbomite Maneuver
The Devil in the Dark

Oddly enough I would be interested in a 'all time worst episode' poll.
Has that ever been done for TOS?

It's been in the back of my mind, but right now I'm going to finish up these polls I've been doing first. It would certainly be interesting to get a list of the ten worst shows from each series and have a run off in GTD for the most horrible Trek episode ever.

The problem with B of Terror is that it's a nice episode, but doesn't really have a science-fiction premise to it, except maybe the problems involved in conducting wars early in the history of interstellar travel (not even seeing the enemy, nuclear weapons)... and the story is lifted from a film that I can't remember the name of, but others here do I'm sure. It's a submarine story.

I chose the last five, mostly seasone one stories.

On this board? I can tell you the top - err, bottom two already. :D

My 5 (in the order they appeared above):

Amok Time

Journey to Babel

The Corbomite Maneuver (#1 Star Trek episode IMO)

The Doomsday Machine

Where No Man Has Gone Before

The Enemy Below, Robert Mitchum and Kurt Jurgens, based on a book by a British Naval Officer.

Woo Hoo my favorite episodes are in the final five!

Well except COTEOF - it was good but overrated

And referenced by James Gandolfini in Crimson Tide.
