The Final Ongoing Star Trek Box Office Thread

Just got back from a 9:30 pm IMAX showing. There was at least 40-50 people, people laughed and enjoyed it, and there were applause at the end.

A very good 11th viewing for me...my 6th in IMAX.

That is so nice there were so many viewers. We had about 10 in our 9:30 showing; but our theater hasn't advertised Star Trek on the marquee since it left after the first two weeks. It's amazing anybody at all knows it's there.

TREK was actually shown on Saturday night as a special open-air drive in showing near Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, VA. Found out too late to go see it, but it was cool to know some local/area people got to show the film that way in this day and age with lots of people coming to see it.

Actuals are up... over the 4-day weekend, Star Trek brought in $406,525. A little lower than the estimates, unfortunately, but still pretty good.

Domestic total: $257,171,491.

Awesome! So $258 isn't totally out of the picture, then! IMAX showings might put it within reach of JAWS!

Tuesday September 8: $20,354. That's down 8.5% from last Tuesday, despite the film playing on 50 more screens. Looks like the additional IMAX showings won't add much now that the long weekend is over. Per screen average was $76, the lowest it's been yet. $258 million is probably out of reach.

Domestic total: 257,191,845.

Dang. Well, give it a chance to reload for one last gasp this weekend... maybe 258 is within reach.

I know it plays at mine until the 16, and I'll definitely see it once more before it exits stage left.

Also, the drop off was as high or higher for a lot of other films, so there might be another mini-surge.

School is indeed in session...

well... to put it into some perspective, you're talking another 800,000 and change.

DOUBLE what it took in over the holiday weekend. I'd pretty much be willing to say it's time to stick a fork in it, it's done.

But hey, damn fine run of it.

260 sure would have been awesome though.

Yeah I think the box office overall wasn't that great. Summer is over. When I went to IMAX last Saturday, I parked right at the front door. Haven't been able to do that all summer. Not many customers inside. The good thing is the people who were at the IMAX showing were fans and we laughed, clapped and enjoyed it very much. I consider it a hit, regardless if it seems fewer people are going.

Yeah, you're probably right. But I guess only the next few weeks will tell for certain.

Problem is Iron Man only made an extra 600K from this point til the end. Even if Trek keeps going past that (Which I doubt as its leaving Imax again next week) It would make maybe 700-800K more.

Yeah, not bad. I'm also glad to see that 9 seems to have had a fairly strong start (even if it did fall off a bit yesterday); I found it an enjoyable movie, and I hope it has a good weekend.
