Kev,

You told me to tell you when I was promoted to commodore. Yesterday I was, and I thought the commie lounge would be more busy than it has been.
Unfortunately, it's really not. I think lots of the folks who really made it a "happening place" have moved on to the Admiral's lounge. But it seems there's some folks around there trying to make it lively again. I'll mosey back in there from time to time, but not really post. Eh, guess I'll start contributing again, if for nothing else but to get to the Admirals' lounge faster :p ;)

I heard the same stories and we're trying to make it a great place to be. And we succeeded last month when we had a drinking party. ;) :)

^ Vash, as someone who was still a Commie a couple of days ago, I can assure you that there's not a lot of dignity going on in the Commie lounge. :D And I mean that in the nicest way possible. ;)

Sounds like my kind of place! :p

Personally, I loved P of C. And really, just as much for Johnny Depp as for Orlando!
Oh, yes! Just saw this movie for the first time last weekend, and I thought it was delightful. Not much makes me laugh that hard anymore. Johnny Depp's portrayal of Jack Sparrow was just charming. It's nice to have a good, old-fashioned adventure without heavy sex and profanity. Great fun!

Johnny Depp totally deserved the oscar nomination he has recieved for this film. He was utterly BRILLIANT!!!!
I was very surprised that he got a nod for an Oscar of all things  Like, wow, they might have some taste after all  I hope Depp gets the award; it'd certainly be a welcome departure from the standard (read: disappointing) fare.

And to you commies out there...maybe it's time I wandered into the commies lounge and had some fun. You guys can make it fun in there...you just have to be willing to set your dignity aside.
Bring it! Like Steven said, they're drinking themselves back into the fun, like the good ol days  The dignity is definitely going out the window. :p

Yep! I agree! IMO, Johnny Depp has been deserving of an Oscar long before now. I think the problem has always been, however, that he takes so many quirky, odd-ball roles...and they just don't like that. But he has always done an incredible job on whatever he has worked on...and I'd really love to see him win an award for P of C. Cus IMO, he was nothing less than brilliant!

Lord knows...if even *I* think he was the best thing about that movie, he *had* to be good!

Yep, if Depp can beat out THE BLOOM in Vash's favor, he must've been good

Hi all, I'm back after a short vacation. I almost had my hands on the S3 bonus disc, but I stopped bidding on it after it hit $40 Cdn. :(

Still, the search continues.... ;)

^ $40??? Frell! That's a lotta cash just for a bonus disc.

Anyway...I've got my b-day coming up in 6 days. I'm looking forward to it, in a way. I know I'm gonna miss home even more then usually.

Somebody wanted it just that bad. I figure, if I'm not going to win it, I'm going to make someone else pay through the nose to get it.

And, happy early birthday! ;) :)

Yep, that's why I don't do much online auctions. If many folks are bidding, the price ends up being at least twice the price I would've expected it to sell for.

^ Yep, I'm the same way. I had no problem paying about $15 Cdn for it, but somebody wanted it bad enough that they put in a $40 max bid.

Thanx man. :D

You'll get that extra disc someday, just be patient. :)

First, a very Happy Birthday to BigFoot!!!!!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Second....I suggest everyone be careful with those online auctions. As one who was ripped off on ebay once....I rarely even go there anymore. If you get ripped off, ebay does very little to help you....even if, like in my case, a whole GROUP of people get ripped off by the same seller. In my case, about 60 people got ripped of by one seller and the total was well into the thousands of dollars...but because all the individual ripoffs were fairly small (most under $300....mine was about $80, IIRC) ebay pretty much washed its hands of the whole situation and told us it didn't fall into one of their little protected categories.

I haven't been back to ebay since.

I'm sorta bummed about it actually, because I have most of the Hallmark Trek ornaments...but because of various life circumstances, did not have the money to buy the ones this past Christmas. Of course, after Christmas, the only place to find them is Ebay....but I'm really hesitant to go back...even to go after Trek ornaments!

^ Thanx Vash. :)

Well I have a couple of rules about eBay. First of all, I'd never spend more then...$30. Second, I only buy from people that have A LOT of good feedback. And third, I usually don't even spend more then $15. :) So far I've only had about...7 purchases through eBay and all of them have been good. *knocks on wood* Hopefully it'll stay that way.
So here's my advice Vash, if you want those ornaments so bad, I'd say try to find them on eBay. No I have no clue how much they cost, but I'd suggest you try to keep the expenses low. And if it all goes well, you can buy some more. :)

Yeah, I know all the horror stories about eBay. One summer I went totally nuts on it, and bought a whole bunch of stuff, like Star Trek magazines, and I even picked up a box of unopened Star Trek figures for $20-25 if I recall correctly. ;) :D

Yeah...that is a pretty good plan you have there, BigFoot. I think you are wise to not spend more than $15. Unfortunately, my $80 loss came about as a result of 3 auctions (all for about $20-$35) I won from the same person. And as I said, I was not alone....that person ripped off tons of other folks as well...some for alot more than he got ME for! We all paid with paypal...but never received any of our merchandise. :(

On the plus side...I did get a few older Trek ornaments that I'd missed earlier for very reasonable prices. So my experience wasn't ALL bad. But when it comes to ebay, I'd DEFINITELY say "Buyer Beware". Cus ebay does NOTHING to help you if you get ripped off.

^ Thanx. :D

Anyway...I had a HUGE milkshake earlier so I feel sick right now...and no, I don't know why I had to share this with you guys. :D
