I think that one was rejected before the ink dried LOL.. it was finally printed in PrehistoryA dead man is slumped over the keyboard of a piano. There is a crowd gathered at the door:
"Ssshhhh....the Maestro is decomposing!"
The collection contains more than 1,100 comics that had not previously appeared in any other Far Side
You just reminded me of the Tofuderbeast.Early Vegetarians Returning From The Kill. Must be over 20 years since I saw it last.
Oh, and School For Gifted Youngsters - I have that on a mug.
Edit - And Boneless Chicken Ranch !
Well, I think the answer is that he did a panel for every day.. that is up to six or seven panels a week.. often the collections would be selected cartoons, but there were many that just didn't appear in the collections. The Complete Far Side is HUGE and has every one that was syndicated and few that appear for the first time. That said, to have all the Far Side material, you would The Complete Far Side AND Prehistory, as Prehistory has rejected cartoons etc not syndicated. I also don't yet have There's a Hair in My Dirt! but I heard that is a separate storyI have all the big anthologies; the Prehistory book with stories, early takes, an early comic strip, etc.; and The Last Chapter and Worse (that contains the last ones that were done, along with some he drew after the strip ended), so I m baffled by the comment from anouncements on this set:
How could there be so many? Were so many left out? Are there even more he's drawn since TLCaW?
I thought I had them all (minus the covers) for the smaller books which just duplicated comics in anthologies).
