The Fall Reading Order

Why one would want to read a chapter here and there across multiple books completely escapes me.

I'm with you there, that just sounds like way to much work.
I'm up to The Fall on TNG, TTN, and DS9 series, so my questions pretty much just apply to it and the books after it. Well, technically I'm up to Seize the Fire with TTN, but after I didn't like that enough to finish it I decided to skip the MAM books.

Keep in mind that's only if you want to read in literal strict chronological order. You can never go wrong with release date order.

Granted, some times I've been tempted to try reading through Treklit in strict chronological order just for fun, so maybe you are too. :p

I'm kind of jumping around between eras, but within each era I'm going by series, so I will probably go with the order you have there and then do the DS9 books after that. After that will be VOY, Ent, IKS Gorkon, and TOS.

Haha, awesome. Were you the one that created the chronological recut that's floating around out there too?

No. I was aware of it after I had started my project, but I didn't have the technical experience or time to do more than create a guide for what order the scenes would come in. My version and that other one did have slight differences.

I always wanted to do the same thing again for Battlestar Galactica, and it had been my plan to do it after I finished the Litverse Reading Guide. Years after starting it though, it's pretty clear to me that it will never be "finished" barring the cancellation of the Litverse novels. I keep thinking up more and more Trek stuff I want to add to the site, and I really haven't ever finished creating all the features I original invisioned. So who knows it I'll ever get to that BSG project.

Oh my god, thank you so much Christopher. I have been trying to figure this out for months, by reading them simultaneously but that didn't really work, so you saved me a lot of time figuring this out.

Forgive my ignorance, but I was just wondering... how do you read five books simultaneously? That sounds exceedingly difficult.

I knew that Revelation and Dust started on August 22nd and read it until the text indicated that 2 days have passed. Then I switched to The Crimson Shadow, read it until the first day ended, switched back to R&D and so on.. At no point did I read more than three books at the same time and that was only for a few chapters.

Ah, OK, I see what you mean. I had originally pictured you sitting there with five books open in front of you, and you were reading them all at the same time! :D

This way still sounds difficult, though! ;)

I tend to read multiple books at once, my record was eight, but that ended up being way to many and I haven't read more than 2 or 3 at a time since. I started a lot of them because they were being adapted to either movies or TV, and I was determined to get through the books before the adaptation was released.

Are the different series post The Fall books connected at all? For instance do we see any references to the events of Sacraments of Fire in Armageddon's Arrow?

Neither are they "not connected." There simply was no story-related reason in Armageddon's Arrow to reference events from Sacraments of Fire.

:)

I think The Missing and Takedown make at least small references to each other.

Good to know, thank you. I'd been wanting to try to just do one series at a time, and I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't miss anything, even small subtle stuff, if I did that.
