News The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Updates

Daniel Bruhl shares a few images (as well as a familiar and ominous message), including a fuzzy first look at Zemo's mask.

Hm. The mask's larger eye holes made it look like a passed ski mask. But I am glad that with Zemo, they are taking more inspiration from the source this time around.

The text included with the post just makes me wonder if the plot will revolve around Zemo hijacking Bucky again and Sam having to stop him.

Its a good guess; Zemo ultimately failed once Bucky was cured in Wakanda, and once he discovers Bucky is doing the super-hero thing, what better way to finish the job than to reactivate Barnes into his personal super-killer, which--of course--would lead to conflict with Sam, and presumably, Sharon.

Next to no information is available about the show, but its the most exciting Marvel production news.

Seeing how the Avengers are now going to be hailed as Saviors of the Universe and the two Avengers he wanted at each others' throats (Cap and Tony) are considered unassailable legends who are beyond reproach, Zemo is likely going to do the best he can to trash their legacy by going after Sam.

This is similar to what Red Skull tried to do in the "Super Patriot" storyline back in 1987: He had Steve fired by the Government and replaced by a new Super Soldier. Skull made sure the new Super Soldier was driven mad by repeated traumas and his violent berserker actions would tarnish the name of Captain America itself.

Zemo might try to retake control of Bucky to ruin his newfound good rep and hopefully make Sam look like an accomplice to trash the legacy they got from Steve.

Ultimately, I believe Sam will succeed as a non-superpowered character. The very reason elderly Steve gave Sam the shield leans in the direction of why Erskine selected Steve for the program that would turn him into Cap--its what's in his heart, not his veins--which makes him the perfect candidate to step into the Cap role.

I'm almost certain we will see episodes where Sam is not only showing a lack of confidence (not living up to what he believed Steve was) and I hope scenes of random people doubting him (for a number of their wrongheaded reasons). f the series takes that direction, its an emotional problem that should end in some predictable "moment" where he proves himself. His growth/confidence should be a gradual process while dealing with the negative views of others.
i am not sure i will sign up for Disney + yet....but definitely would love to see this...and not sure of the budget...but guessing they will love to "keep it real" to keep the budget low... But i will like to see Sam's growth into a "1st tier" hero, especially the emotional journey.

With Bucky and Sam being movie characters, I doubt Disney will treat them with anything less than movie level production values. Regarding Sam, yeah, his journey is really only beginning, and its something even Bucky can help him through.

Then, there's Sharon--aside from being an agent, in the wake of her once being interested in Steve, will she become a love interest for one of the leads, or is it best not to have her fall into that all over again?

Did either Sam or Bucky have any love interests in the films? Maybe one of them is gay?

In The First Avenger, Steve and Bucky went out on a double date with Bonnie and Connie. Bucky once spent all of his money at Coney island trying to impress a redhead named "Dot".

Sam went into serious flirtation mode when he met Natasha at the beginning of the Winter Soldier.

Why are they calling this series "Falcon and Winter Soldier" if Sam isn't Falcon any longer?

My guess is that "Captain America and the Winter Soldier" is too similar to the title of the second Captain America movie.

However, I'm in full agreement that Marvel needs to embrace Sam as the new Captain America. Perhaps the story will see Sam coming to terms with his new role and not really embracing it until the end.

Because like to use the character's superhero names in the titles, and if they call if Captain America and the Winter Soldier people will think it's about Steve, not Sam.

If Marvel Studios wants to call this show "Falcon and Winter Soldier", Sam shouldn't be Captain America in it; the writing should have him go back to being Falcon and explain that shift.

Otherwise, it's just weird.
