It seems The Expanse itself or something related might feature on Apple TV+ once Amazon's rights time out soon. What do people expect will be produced? My hope is for a continuation, but this is probably unlikely as this video explains.

One option might be to do some more exploration of the show's worlds that are accessible through the gates and develop themes from the novellas before tackling the last three main novels.

    Fingers crossed...

    I said out, dammit!
Aggravating. I have the SyFy Channel seasons on DVD. When it went to Amazon Prime, which I do have, they didn't release it on DVD any more, so I can't have a complete series on physical media. But at least I could see it on Amazon. Now it'll switch to yet a different streaming service that I don't have and don't want, which will also not release it on DVD...

Does a person have to use an Apple device to view the content on Apple-TV+?

Huh. I had tried to sign on to Apple TV+ nearly two years ago and was informed that an Apple device was required. I don't know. Chances are I had read the app's website wrong.

I had almost managed to sign in, but was unable to get in without signing into a iTunes Store Account. So, I just let it pass.

I registered an iTunes account, but it doesn't mean I have to buy anything from iTunes. It's just part of Apple's business model to try to tempt you into their ecosystem. It's not even a minor annoyance to me. For All Mankind is being released on Blu-ray, so I expect any content in The Expanse universe that Apple produce might be as well, eventually. Seasons 4-6 might never make it onto physical media, however. It's just becoming the default consumer model to make stuff only available in the cloud. That way, it can just be pulled and there's nothing legal you can do about it.

From things said by the likes of Ty Frank and Naren Shankar since the end of the deal with Amazon, it's been pretty clear they were already in the process of continuing the franchise elsewhere in some form or another. Apple makes sense as the next home for the franchise as it's the only major streaming service that's still both willing and able to throw money around for the sake of prestige projects, while the others are making big cut-backs. That doesn't prove anything of course, but it at least seems logical.

Honestly I'd be surprised if they go straight into the final three novels given the three decade time-jump in the books (though I suppose they could credibly cut that in half for the sake of the adaptation), and would expect to see more of a spin-off project or indeed; projects plural. After all 'The Expanse' originated as an RPG, and that's what all the world building was developed for. As a result it's ongoing narrative need not always be inexorably tied to the adventures of the Roci crew. There's enough of a living world that they can tell almost any kind of story they want, up and down the timeline.

A Belter/Transport Union show would seem like the natural choice, maybe acting as a bridge for when the eventually do catch up to the events of 'Persepolis Rising'. Or they could wind the clock back the the early days of the expansion out into the Sol System and do something with the Martian secession and the early belt settlers. They can't really go the opposite direction given the ending of 'Leviathan Falls', but they could set something contemporaneous with the original show with a new cast and either a new perspective on events, or just have those events as a backdrop, incidental to the lower stakes plot for said new characters.

For what it's worth, the fourth season of The Expanse was released on physical media, though I think it's an Amazon exclusive, maybe even Manufacture on Demand. Granted, that probably won't mean much to folks around here without the fifth and sixth seasons.

It seems season four is only available as a region A Blu-ray set, so getting the discs to play might be an issue. The series is still available on Amazon Prime Video so there's no incentive for me to buy the physical media. I wouldn't buy the series on Amazon Prime because stuff can just get pulled without notice if they lose the rights.

If I remember correctly, at the time they asked for an Apple device because in the case some discounts were applied. I don't know today how it works.

Had no problem with Apple Ploof on my Xbox for the times I've watched For all Mankind. Just a regular streaming app/website.

apparently there's a time shift between books? Something like 20 years ?? I'm not sure. Could just wait 5 years and just lie.

Ugh. They need to get seasons 4 through 6 on Blu Ray so I have a series set.

If Apple+ went for 1899 and some other sci-fi or fantasy properties, I think they could really grow their market share.

Thirty years, I think, but anti-agapic drugs probably exist in the future that extend file spans and ameliorate the effects of ageing. Just indicate that three decades have passed without contact from Laconia and have one of the crew pass a comment that the drugs appear to be working apart from hair greying or some such.

Expanse's tech was never THAT advanced. Although the Martian made med computer might be damned close.

The anti-aging drugs are mentioned quite frequently in the novels after the thirty year time jump. Which I always suspected was meant to provide a built-in explanation for why the actors don't look thirty years older if the show made it to that point.

They can regrow limbs, spinal cords, and cancer is manageable with some occasional injections. It really is that advanced, but it's also really expensive. Remember that the first season established that life expectancy on Earth is north of 120, even longer on Mars (60-70 in the belt because: poverty.) Remembering that most of Earth's population is living on basic government assistance, that probably brings the average down a decade or three, and if we're just talking about the top 1%, the average is probably a lot close to 150 with perhaps even a few bicentennials here and there.
That's not to say there's any specific, special magical anti-aging drugs; just much better maintenance and healthcare technology that can slow the effects of aging for more than a century . . . if you have the money.
