The Expanse Cancelled - Again.

If I'm remembering where that would line up with the events in the books, I thinks that's as ideal an endpoint for the show as any. Given that the next (for lack of a better term) "arc" in the books is only really just getting started and probably won't be done by the time the show catches up, best to end it on a strong note.

It can always come back with a new show to pick up that thread if there's interest in a few years.

Is that a cancelled series or one just reaching it's planned ending?

I wouldn't call only doing 2/3 of the story a planned ending. But unless they were going to completely recast or spend half their budget on old-age makeup there probably wasn't any choice.

the last novel isn't written either, either. I doubt they want to get into a GOT situation where they have to give up waiting on authors and go it alone with their own script for a final season. That worked out great for HBO! :D

The title of this thread is false and misleading.

Regarding the story having a definitive conclusion, novel series authors Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham are and remain directly involved with the TV adaptation's production, and can therefore bring the entirety of their knowledge about the novels - including anything that they have yet to publish - to bear in shepherding the show to its end.

Good riddance on the departure of Cas Anvar. I've gotten into The Expanse in the past year and the knowledge of what he's done can make it very hard to enjoy the show.

As that should take them to the end of book 6, which was the last before the time jump in book 7 that's a pretty good place to end the TV series. Should they so desire, they can always do a spinoff to cover the three remaining books. I'm okay with this.

I haven't followed the news, but is he guilty or only allegations?

Three TV movies or three two part specials.

New (older) main cast, a few old faces in old age make up. It's unlikely but do-able.

Multiple women have accused him of sexual harassment, including someone who says she was 17 at the time. Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham, the authors of the novels under a joint pseudonym who are also producers of the show, Tweeted from their pseudonym's account that the studio, Alcon Entertainment, had hired an independent third-party investigator to look into the allegations. We heard no other updates on that until it was announced yesterday that Anvar is not returning.

Seems probable to me that the investigation demonstrated that at least some of the allegations were legit.

if he’s guilty, then f*ck him, but I like the character he plays, so I’d be sorry to see him (the character) go.

I wouldn't mind some "tv" movies to finish it up at a latter date. As the novels are still going, rather they wait a bit than make up crap.

I'm fairly sure that Season 5 covers both Books 5 and 6, and since the story of the TV series isn't entirely like the books and has been altered accordingly with and through the direct influence of the authors of the books themselves, Season 6 could very easily and conceivably adapt the final published installments - with applicable and necessary changes - in order to give the story as presented onscreen a definitive conclusion.

Perfectly fine with this. Let the show which is going so strong end that way. Too many shows that drag on past when they should have ended *cough* Walking Dead *cough*. I don't want that from this series.
