The Enterprise that never was...

Atolm

Some years ago, I had drawn a "what if" TNG Enterprise. This ship was designed on the premise that starships would follow more from the Excelsior, and Oberth concepts in their future. I originally just had a B&W Side view of the ship...but after seeing Cyfa's new contest for the month, I figured I finish her up some.
This is not an entry, but I hope, as with all my work, inspires you guys to some degree.
Enjoy:

I love it, Atolm! Excelsior and Oberth are my favourite starships, and this is a strange and unusual blend of the two. Distinct, yet unmistakable.

If not Enterprise, perhaps the USS Lydia Deetz? The quote on the dedication plaque would be "I, myself, am strange and unusual" - as spoken by her namesake in Beetlejuice...:rommie:

Really interesting take on a starship, Enterprise or not, I like the details from the various era's on this ship. :mallory:
thanks

^^ Hehehe.. USS Beetlejuice..
lol :D

^ Just don’t say/post the name 3 times quickly...

Nice work as always, Atolm!!

Cheers,

LOL, thank you :)

It looks a bit weird and unexpected but at the same time familiar which is very good in my opinion. I especially like how you attached the saucer to the secondary hull at the center instead of the back, it's such a little change but very effective at giving the ship a unique touch.
Another thing that stands out to me are the bussard collectors integrated into the warp grill, I love how that looks.

I love this design! I also concur, regarding your placement of the neck-to the saucer centre - it works really well, and is giving me lots of ideas for configurations of this nature.

:) Fantastic work (as always, of course!)

Oh yes, I'm really digging this!! :D
Thanks

Amazing as always. The front view looks a bit Galaxy-ish.
Thanks ;)

Thank you. I am glad you found favour with my design choices :)

Thanks mate. And again I am happy that you have enjoyed my design choices as well :D

I’ve often thought that the saucer should overhang the secondary hull.

I like a rearward attachment point best since the saucer is allowed to “smile” and not look choked—but I could see a very wide saucer on a central pivot allowed to rotate atop the neck ball joint.

Forget messing with the nacelles—go with a variable geometry saucer
