The Alien's own body is (of course) immune to the acid. The Thing assimilates and duplicates lifeforms. Corrosive blood doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to overcome. The acid blood probably would be a stumbling block--but who can say?

The already made a video game for The Thing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Thing_(video_game)Make it a video game, then all you need are the voices and likeness rights. The old PS2 sequel game rocked, but one today - done Alien Isolation style with Russell, David and Winstead - would be a must-buy.
That's the game that Nightowl already mentioned in the post you quoted. The already made a video game for The Thing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Thing_(video_game)
I pierced my own ear when I was in my 20s and I poked the earing through my ear in maybe 2 seconds. Plenty of time to do it.^ Because the alien's body can't imitate anything non-organic. And it can't pierce its own ear and put the earring in, since there's no time to do that.
