Well, fuck me! RTD did it! He managed to fulfill all expectations but not in the expected way. It's nice to know I was right about the four knocks - knew it as soon as that set was introduced last week. Likewise the sound of drums in the Master's head is both expected and a surprise twist.

Were there tears? A little, but not for Ten's end - it dragged on too long, and his final words were extremely disappointing and unDoctorish (and undercut his superior speech about it earlier) - no, it was the second "get out of the way"...

Overall, bloody fantastic if a little overblown at the end. it's also interesting that there was no real actual plot by anyone in it - it's all been several different things happening at the same time that conflagrate together. And yet it nicely tied up the whole RTD era.

Oh, and Matt Smith seems OK - but where was a season 5 trailer, dammit?

10/10

Oh, and that woman in white? Nice subtle answer, so as not to confuse viewers with shorter memories

It's Susan. When Wilf asks the Doc who she is, he looks at Donna; and who's Donna to Wilf? The Granddaughter. This also links to the Doc being OK with Jack too, despite what he did with his grandson at the end of CoE- the Doc just sent his granddaughter back to Hell too.

When was the Martha and Mickey moment? I was confused when it came on as it looked like it came right after what happened with the Master for a moment but then it shows there in a fire fight with a Sontarran?

Could have been any time, since he travelled forward and back.

I liked the doctors last line..."I don't want to go"

Very touching. In fact, that was the best bit.

^ On one hand it was a bit unDoctorish, but on the other I still found it really touching regardless. The slow onset of the regen-effect was nicely done there. I don't see why that was what trashed the TARDIS though.

"What's this? What.. I'm a girl!? No, no!" Brilliant.

GOOD THINGS

I liked the acting between Tennant and Cribbins. I was dreading Rose's appearance, but she didn't get any more time than the other companions and it was quite restrained and not all "I LOVE YOU ROSE, I AM ACTUALLY UNAMBIGUOUsLY IN LOVE WITH YOU!" so that was good. It was cool seeing Matt Smith.

BAD AND OTHER THINGS

So, it was lucky that Timothy Dalton had a button on his death glove that can reverse everyone being turned into John Simm.

And it was also lucky that shooting that machine somehow made Gallifrey and the Time Lords (and the Master I guess) disappear again! Boy those Timelords were a real threat for a few seconds there!

So when the Doctor was spinning around between The Master and Timothy Dalton, why didn't Timothy just SHOOT HIM WITH HIS DEATH GLOVE?

Star Wars rip-offs 3: Galactic Senate, Millennium Falcon gun pods, Cantina (was that a girl dressed as Princess Leia sitting next to Jack?)

Star Trek rip-offs: Wrath of Khan death for the Doctor.

That cactus girl needed a good slap.

Why were Mickey and Martha married other than the fact that they're both black and so that RTD didn't have to write seperate goodbyes for both?

"I WISH I WAS YOUR DAD" all the time made me think Wilf was the Doctor's dad and the woman in white his mother.

Wonder what the kids watching thought of the Doctor helping Jack get laid with that big-eared boy.

It was ok, better than last week, but it still could have been better IMO. Blimey, Ten sure dragged out his regeneration there, didn't he? A few things:

1) I'm a bit miffed that they never explained who the woman in white was. Did the Confidential say anything?

2) What was the point of Donna in all this? She was only really in it for a couple of minutes, and it just seemed like a bit of a waste to me.

3) I'm not quite sure I entirely understand what's going on with the Time Lords. Are they still alive somewhere and constantly trapped in the last days of the Time War?

Oh another thing, Timothy Dalton is about to kill The Master...a few seconds later the Doctor is about to kill the Master and the Master says doing so would send Gallifrey and the Timelords back into the "Time Lock" (or whatever it was)...SO WHY WAS TIMOTHY DALTON GOING TO KILL THE MASTER?

1) I'm a bit miffed that they never explained who the woman in white was. Did the Confidential say anything?

Didn't seem to - deliberately left open for Moffatt I'd imagine.

2) What was the point of Donna in all this? She was only really in it for a couple of minutes, and it just seemed like a bit of a waste to me.

To give her a happy ending.

3) I'm not quite sure I entirely understand what's going on with the Time Lords. Are they still alive somewhere and constantly trapped in the last days of the Time War?

The Time War is "time locked", meaning they can't just get in a Tardis and fly to before or after. The whole Time Lord civilisation knows it is boned but are trapped in the causality leading to it.

1. Dont know.
2. She was a red herring, and a tie to bring Wilf in.
3. There is a time lock on the time war, where they are forever trapped, not quite looping but existing all the same. The masters entire existence was engineered essentially to act as a beacon allowing the time lords to escape (similar to the mass telephone call to the doctor in "The Stolen Earth" allowing him to locate earth out of sync in the Medusa cascade.)

As for the 2010 preview, was that River Song I saw along with vampires, and the stone angels from Blink.?

The Master/ Time-Lords thing was average, although it was nice to see some use for the Master's new powers, and the 'Get out of the way' thing was good. I didn't really expect Wilf to be the 4 knocks guy, and the death was a bit too Wrath of Khan (And as soon as I saw the asteroid lasers they screamed to me 'Millenium Falcon').

The last 20 minutes were a perfect send-off to the Tennant era, and the regeneration was certainly more dramatic than usual. Not sure what to make of Eleven yet, although I guess we'll see more in the new series.

I'd like to rank this somewhere between Billiant and OK.

Nice send off, a bit of a long "I know it's coming" death, we've been getting hints at it since 2008. I had thought RTD might reset things and have the timelords brought back for the next series. I like how it's Wilf that knocks 4 times. That was brilliant. I laughed at the bit with Jack in the bar. I liked that Doctor 10 realy didn't want to go. It's a more realistic reaction to death. Can't wait for series 5.

I also thought it was Susan. Is that ever going to be explained?

I'm more interested in who we didnt see. Rassilon said 2 voted against the rising of Gallifrey, the crying lady we saw, so who was the 2nd voter, the hidden male?

Also it was nice to see Alonso from Voyage of the damned, though due to the actors commitment to Being Human I doubt he'll crop up in Torchwood as a regular saying that you cant have enough Russell Tovey in my opinion.
