The End Of Time Part 1 - Comment & Grading SPOILERS

Before the fun starts I just want to thank all the folks here for a really great few years discussing Who. I'm pretty sure this post is about to get lost in the onslaught that is the commentary of the final two eps for 10, but I just want to say I've loved all the Who discussion here over the past few years since the new Who began. It's been exciting, and funny and enlightening. Thank you.

Okay, back to the scheduled speculation and squee!

Bummer, family hasn't buggered off yet!!! Thank god for Sky+.

Right I'm off before I see something I shouldn't!! Merry Christmas all!

"For this was the day the Time Lords returned!"

Not bad. The pacing felt a little bit off at times, there were a few strange plotholes (why does the Master have the ability to fire energy bolts? How can they smell each other?), the 'mad Master' was a bit too mad, and the whole 'Master race' thing feels a bit too daft. Still, that last little bit was an excellent close.

And I am still looking forward to part 2.

I LOVED the Time Lord Stinger at the end. That was epic and classy.

Everything else before that? Masters face on skinny black girls body? Master trying to be Ben Sisko in Far Beyond the Stars? Obama?!

:brickwall:

Yeah, I could have left that.

Frakking awesome! Tennant, Simm, Dalton, Cribbins, Tate. There isn't much more to add. I thought John Simm had an amazing grip on his character. He was lunancy and madness without ever going into charicature. Just awesome. The scene with 10 and Wilf in the cafe was just fabulous. The Doctor on the verge of tears...

Good Queen Bess no longer the Virgin Queen. You naughty Time Lord, you.

Hello, Timothy Dalton. Nice to see you after so long. :techman:

Well, that was not quite expected in the end. Loved the feral Master throughout the episode. :klingon:

Bernard Cribbins was wonderful as always, and his scenes with the Doctor were heartfelt and well done indeed.

And Timothy! Dalton! In nuWho! :D I always knew James Bond was a Time Lord. (It's the constant regenerations... ;))

Did that episode really end with a Nazi pun???
... so we heil, heil, right in Der Meister's face. :bolian:

Holy fucking shit!

Best cliffhanger buildup ever! I was laughing my ass off as much as the Simmster...

I just hope that in part two they have the sense to not have *them* back permanently. (oh, and was the final shot was just a bit too much like the interior of the Dalek Emperor's ship, though that was probably deliberate). The further thought occurs that the options are 1) leave them there, 2) leave it vague, 3) get rid of them again. I'm going to suspect option 3, on the grounds of the last line from Dalton, that the Doc is going to have to off them as being as bad for the cosmos as the Daleks are.

10/10 - brilliant all the way, with the sole exception of the Master's daft jumping and sudden ability to use Force lightning...

I'm also hoping they don't screw things up by revealing the Doctor's family members or anything stupid like that.

No grading poll ?

Above Average - Obviously the set up part so slower pace but that was an interesting ending to the episode and THEY ARE BACK and they looked PISSED to have been basically locked out of time for so long. I get the feeling that the Time Lords might just be more aggresive than ever before.

Also a nasty thought about the end of time itself...What if basically the current timeline is replaced by a new one with what looks like the breach of the time lock on the time war. Quick someone call J.J Abrams ;)

I'm certain that series reboots were used as a weapon in the Time War™. ;)

A bit slow at times, but it ended just right, with the best cliffhanger. The Time Lords are back !

The Master's new powers are a bit superfluous, but the Master Race comment was just funny, as was seeing all the Simms in their assorted costumes.

Yes, that part of the ending was silly.... Being John Mastervich, anyone? (It did remind me a little of the Come To Daddy video too...)
But of course it was only a prelude to the real cliffhanger with the Dalton. :bolian:

And of course I'm intrigued as to how The DoctorDonna will return intact... still got to love Catherine Tate. :)

The Master Race is the single stupidest thing I've ever seen - the Master Race line saved it... and then POW ANGRY TIME LORDS!!!! Lucy got off lightly it seems.

Any scene between Tennant and Cribbens was gold. Obama's spinning head was hilarious. Donna cracked earlier than I expected - how will that play out? The Master's powers were superfluous really - I could happily accept the lightning and Skeletor effects due to how he was resurrected, but not the agility. Looked good though, and Simm plays evil/crazy perfectly.

It's going to be a loooooooooong week.

"Sometimes I think a Time Lord lives too long..."

I'm wondering why the Timeys are crusading for the end of time, seeing as it'd put them out of a job...

But I suspect it's intended to lead to the implication that both sides in the Time War are equally bad.

^^ I do wonder if the events of the Time War have driven the race to be a bunch of "TimeLord Victorious"...I would love to see Time as its own being showing the Time Lords that they do not control time out of there own power but are allowed to by time itself and even they have to answer to something bigger...If you get me :p

Just watching the Confidential... David Tennant's talking about being felt-up by June Whitfield... :guffaw:
