The Eleventh Doctor and Jo Grant to appear on Sarah Jane Adventures

Re: The Eleventh Doctor and Jo Grant to appear on Sarah Jane Adventure

**does happy dance** very good news to get my day going!

Re: The Eleventh Doctor and Jo Grant to appear on Sarah Jane Adventure

That should be very interesting. I wonder if Jo will still be married, or they'll stick with what WHO Expanded Universe established with her getting divorced and all.

It would've been cool to have Caroline John too (Liz Shaw), then we'd have all three main Pertwee companions.

Jo makes more sense I suppose although Sarah's thought more of as a Fourth Doctor companion than a Third one (Apart from Pertwee's final season and the Five Doctors). Then again, the main other companion she travelled with, Harry's actor passed away, Leela's was probably killed in the time war and Romana is either still stuck in E-space or a casulty of the time war-and Tegan, Adric, and Nyssa were all mainly fifth companions.

Re: The Eleventh Doctor and Jo Grant to appear on Sarah Jane Adventure

Whoa!! RTD gets do some 11th Doctor? Awesome!

And Jo Grant?!?! What the hell? Who wasn't available? ;) Eh, I guess it will be fun to see the character again. I'm sure Pertwee fans will be delighted. And, of course, the first time we get to see Sarah with her predecessor.

Also, given no Amy in the line-up, methinks she departs at the end of the season. Or, a special way to write her out for the episode?

Didn't expect them to re-establish connection with the DW universe so quickly. Very nice! :techman:

Re: The Eleventh Doctor and Jo Grant to appear on Sarah Jane Adventure

I think I need to watch some SJA. I haven't seen the one with the Tenth Doctor yet. I should. And I should watch this one too.

Except that we know Amy is in the four computer games, and the BBC has said they're to be thought of as episodes 14 through 17 of the season. So, I'm not expecting Amy to be a one-season companion like Martha and Donna. :)

(It occurs to me that the days of the roll-on, roll-off companions, like the classic series, have passed. Modern season-long narrative structure probably wouldn't be receptive to mid-season companion departures.)

I suspect that the absence of Amy will be explained away in the story, and I'm sure that, from a production standpoint, the episode couldn't afford having Smith, Manning, and Gillan due to the BBC's budget tightening.

The actress is already signed for next year, so unless she's playing a new character...

Re: The Eleventh Doctor and Jo Grant to appear on Sarah Jane Adventure

I don't usually watch SJA, aside from the episode Tennant appeared in last year, which was alright. Looks like I may have to check this episode out too.

I was wondering when they were going to team Smith up with a former companion, mind you I was actually expecting it to be a Doctor Who episode featuring one of them. Sarah-Jane seems the most appropriate, I guess. It just seems odd, the Doctor went through half a dozen lives without seeing her, than the Tenth Doctor ran into her so often that he felt the need to track her down to say good-bye prior to regenerating, and now the Eleventh Doctor is going to meet up with her.

I'm not really familiar with the Pertwee era, so this Jo Grant showing up means nothing to me. But I can appreciate fans of the character and Pertwee's era having this to look forward to.

And finally, weren't there rumours a month or so back that the Weeping Angels were going to appear on SJA? This episode, perhaps?

Re: The Eleventh Doctor and Jo Grant to appear on Sarah Jane Adventure

Only watched the show once for the Tenant episodes but will definitely be watching these two episodes, and Jo grant meeting the doctor will be brilliant.

Re: The Eleventh Doctor and Jo Grant to appear on Sarah Jane Adventure

This is fantastic news! I was wondering if Matt would make an appearance on Sarah Jane Adventures myself considering the scene with the Tenth saying good-bye to Sarah Jane and Luke in "The End of Time Part 2" (granted that scene doesn't necessarily state we would get to see the new Doctor with Sarah in the future but it was something I thought about while watching it). RTD!!!! I'm excited. I've seen season one of Sarah Jane and the episode with the Trickster and the Tenth Doctor guest appearing. Jo returning is interesting as well! As for Amy not being in it...indeed fascinating.

Re: The Eleventh Doctor and Jo Grant to appear on Sarah Jane Adventure

The budget explanation that Allyn gave makes sense where Gillan's absence is concerned... :techman:

Re: The Eleventh Doctor and Jo Grant to appear on Sarah Jane Adventure

Lucky for us. We were just speculating here about why exactly the Doctor downed a glass of champagne when she told him she was getting hitched. Now we'll get to see exactly how bitter he is over that.

"Doctor! You've changed!"
"Of course, Jo. In a funny way, I'm a younger version of me."

It would've been such a joy if Rose or, even better, Martha could be there to see it.

Re: The Eleventh Doctor and Jo Grant to appear on Sarah Jane Adventure

"Doctor! Why did you hit the Slitheen with a spanner? Whatever happened to Venusian Aikido?"

"Do I look coordinated enough for Venusian Aikido, Jo?"

Source? You seem to be the only person in the world who knows this, which makes me think that you don't really "know" this. No offense.

Re: The Eleventh Doctor and Jo Grant to appear on Sarah Jane Adventure

...but....Doctor Manhattan is his avatar! He must know!

Re: The Eleventh Doctor and Jo Grant to appear on Sarah Jane Adventure

I wonder if they'll mention Katy Manning's attempt at regeneration.

Re: The Eleventh Doctor and Jo Grant to appear on Sarah Jane Adventure

 I thought she might be playing the alien villain...

This is the best I can find at the moment:

"The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine has confirmed that Karen Gillan will be returning as Amy Pond for the Eleventh Doctor’s second series next year."

Re: The Eleventh Doctor and Jo Grant to appear on Sarah Jane Adventure

Doctor- Sarah Jane! and...who's that?

Jo- it's me! Jo Grant

Doctor- Did you have a little work done?

Jo- No, now are we going to take the whomobile or the who gyrocopter or Bessie?

Doctor- What the hell was I thinking? Let's take the whomobile!

:guffaw: PRECISELY what I was thinking. Man, talk about plastic surgery gone bad! I hope to goodness they get her a good makeup artist and a costumer who won't let her get away with her "mutton dressed up as lamb" personal style...

"Now, Ms. Manning, the producers and I feel that a micro-mini-skirt isn't QUITE the thing for you these days..."
