The DS9 intro redone in 4K...breathtaking!!

For all its 'failings' - if they can even be called that - NeonVisual produced a very repectable version of the DS9 opening credits. I have seen a lot worse on other 'professional' TV shows. I think the creator derseves a round of applause. (I couldn't find an applause smiley so I raise my glass to the clip maker)

This is indeed gorgeous, but we miss something about the tangibility of actual models (and not just in Star Trek). Doesn't matter at the moment how good CGI gets, it can never be as good as something that was actually there, physical and lit with actual lights.

And we've only just realised. What's with ships flying around 'inside' the space of DS9. If you take off from the outer docking ring, fly around the outside of the station, not inside the pylons space! We're sure it's not just the Defiant that's done this! ;)

It does seem as though, practically speaking, the inner perimeter of DS9 would be considered 'restricted airspace'. For a similar reason it's kind of surprising that the outer pylons face inward instead of outward.

When you think about, if they had 6 ships docked at each pylon (forget the docking ring, just the upper and lower pylons) it would be pretty tight to maneuver. Really the only way to get to those pylon docks would be to drive in straight from outside the station, line up your dock, and then move in.

That really depends on the size and dimensions of the ships though. When the E-D was docked, there was still a lot of room because the pylon connected at the D's narrow midsection.
