The Doctor - Current Update?

If you thought of Picardo as the Doctor as a young geek, then you are still many years from being an old geek...
Yeah, I was half-joking about that, I'm not that old (I just have a old soul :p). However, things are complicated by the fact that, while Voyager was televised on Italian tv almost concurrently with the US, the old Doctor Who series practically never hit the Italian airwaves.

This is something I've been wondering for some time, and this thread has really made me curious, but a question for KRAD...since you are a connoisseur and writer of both...in an ultimate fan-boy crossover, if you could pick any of the various incarnations/regenerations, which Doctor (Who) would you team up with which Trek series and crew???
Well, if I was picking a Doctor to write on general principle, it'd be either Four or Nine, simply because they're my two favorites.

As for which flavor of Trek, that's tougher. See, the Doctor has the ability (as, I believe, Stephen Moffat his own self once put it, though I may be misattributing) to go from being in the brig/dungeon to being on the bridge/in total control of the situation in 20 minutes or less. The nature of a great deal of Who fiction (and a Trek crossover would fall into this category) is that he tends to take over from whoever's nominally in charge. That's harder to do in Trek fiction, because the captain really is in charge, and it's tough to supersede Kirk or Picard or Sisko or Janeway or Calhoun or Gold or whoever.

So I guess I'd do it with Enterprise. :rommie:
KRAD, I just have to tell you that I'd trade an arm and a leg to read a Ninth Doctor story written by your good self. Too bad nobody's currently publishing those...

I don't know, I think it'd be fun to see Picard having to deal with the antics of the Fourth or Tenth Doctor, and being just as frustrated as he gets with Q. Conversely, if you preferred having the Trek captain retain his or her authority, you could go for one of the more "vulnerable" Doctors, Two or Five.

Either of those would be very interesting...I can imagine Two running rings around, say, Janeway, having her think she was in charge the whole time and finding out later that the Doctor was two or three steps ahead of her the whole time. (Actually, the Sylvester McCoy Doctor might work well opposite Janeway for the same reason.)

Oh, believe me, I'd give both legs to write a Nine story. (Not an arm and a leg. I need both arms to type efficiently.)

Thank you SO MUCH for the insight!!

"Listen, I don't know who you are, but I am the captain of the Enterprise!"

"You are? Fantastic! Really, that's truly brilliant! Good for you! Now, why don't you have a nice sit-down right over there, Captain..."

"Well, all right, then..."

Okay, first I apologize for resurrecting this thread which maybe should have died some time ago, but I've been pondering KRAD's answer to my original question (which doctor w/which Trek crew) quite a bit lately. (I've been re-watching the new seasons of the Doctor, since my 6 year old twin girls discovered the 10th Doctor on our PBS station...sorry for the digression, but it is INCREDIBLY exciting to see my little girls falling in love w/the Doctor, just like I did!) Anyway, I agree that making the Doctor fit w/one of the "standard" crews and captains would be difficult, given the Doctor's penchant for spontaneously "taking charge". But what about a team up between Commander Elias Vaughn and one of the Docs...preferrably the Ninth? Think about it...Vaughn, while in many ways a "typical" Starfleet officer, is nevertheless used to working w/and often following, others, while maintaining his "Fleetness". And given Vaughn's still mostly unexplored and secret background, an encounter (or two) w/the good Doctor is certainly not out of the question, and even a reasonable possibility, and what a crossover that would be! Just some food for thought.
