I don't see the point in trying to make men "look bad". Despite intentions, I think these sorts of threads often fall very short of either humor or insight, and just create more misunderstandings.
Yep, that's why I haven't offered any suggestions.
Oh, and Mythbusters firmly disproved the notion that women, especially pretty women, don't fart too.
Yeah, but it seems like you only originally posted when you saw something that might be construed as a negative generality about men. I know later you made that comment about not all women loving shoes, but that wasn't evident in your first post at all.
Sorry if I'm not making much sense, but it seems like that sort of behavior is just as divisive.

That post was clearly meant to say that not all men love cars and not all women love shoes as a response to this. There was no later about it. My very first post disagreed with the women all love shoes stereotype. If that is divisive then we'll have to be divided. I do not, however, think it was.

Because half the guys here don't know any girls in real life and are just basing it on what they see on TV.

I think a lot of it is being afraid of something they don't understand so they try to put down a whole other half of the population to pretend they are knowledgeable.

Generalising about a bunch of people who's attitudes you have spent quite a long time observing is not the same as generalising about entire genders.

Your suggestion is that the guys posting in this thread don't know anything about women because they don't have girlfriends and don't get to meet a lot of women ? Correct ?
You and JW might find it very easy to just walk up to anyone you find attractive and have their phone number three seconds later. I don't know. If you think that is normal for people who post on a Star Trek message board then I do not think you know your audience very well.

Stereotyping 51% of the worlds population is quite different to observing a small group of people who reveal FAR too much personal info here and then commenting on what you see limited to that small group of people. Not even comparable.
