The Derelict: A Star Trek Fan Production

Very nicely done. Enjoy the Enterprise era story

Thanks :) Always nice to play around in a different era of Star Trek

A step up from Needs of the Many to be sure!

...
Nitpicks aside, again. nice job!

Thanks for watching, Maurice, and for the feedback - it is always appreciated! :)

As you have mentioned with regards to the jumpcuts, crossing the line and last shot etc, there are obviously many factors that happened during filming that I know about (and the viewing public do not) that inadvertently cause these little 'grips' - the majority of is the result of timing.

For example, the last shot (and the last shot we filmed) was originally supposed to be the CU/MID of Fletcher looking back and the door closing behind her BUT the door didn't slide smoothly at the end AND, as a result shooting at 4K, we ran out of space on our last card so there was only a single take. So we had to resort to cutting back to the wide - of which the entire shot at the end wobbles also...so we just couldn't win! Ahaha!

Anyway, thanks again and glad you enjoyed it :)

Aaron Vanderkley has revealed that he is planning to make more of these fan films, possibly another three, as part of an anthology series. :bolian:

I enjoyed watching The Derelict. Thanks! Your previous fan film, The Needs of The Many is also an excellent watch.

You mean stock music music by Dennis McCarthy, right? You didn't hire him for an original score, did you?

I wouldn't exactly class it as 'stock music' (or 'library/production music'), but the music was taken from the Enterprise - Music from the Original Television Soundtrack release from 2002.

I enjoyed watching The Derelict. Thanks! Your previous fan film, The Needs of The Many is also an excellent watch.

Thank you so much for watching (both)! Very glad you've enjoyed them.

Incidentally, I've just done an interview with Fan Film Factor regarding the production of both films, so if you're interested in the behind the scenes 'Needs of the Many' and 'The Derelict' then check out PART ONE here.
