Two reasonable episodes of the Pod, generally positive about Dr Bashir, I Presume though Armin asking why they didn't reference Bashir being the long term holo programme after this. But does he, I don't think the episode is clear on that and I would expect Starfleet to quietly shelve that plan.

They're very down on A Simple Investigation but then it is a terrible episode and most of their issues seem completely valid.

I always assumed that the LMH program didn’t continue, at least certainly not with Bashir as the template. The later appearance of the EMH Mk 2 (and mentions of a Mk 3 and 4 even later) on Voyager seemed to imply that Zimmerman decided to focus on improving the EMH instead. Or maybe the work done on the LMH was incorporated into the later EMHs.

Julian is only able to hang on to his commission and his medical practice thanks to Richard's deal with Admiral Bennett. Even with all that, it's hard to imagine the LMH (if it actually happened) still being modeled after him.

A Simple Investigation is a very good episode (if not quite a great one) and most of their comments were pretty dumb. I guess I can slightly agree with Robbie's complaint that the hit men weren't threatening enough, but most of the rest of their critiques were off or stupid. Like Terry's utter bafflement that there could be a human living on Finnea. Why the hell not?

Really. I don't think it works at all. The hit men are obviously terrible but it's main issue, one they were often dancing around is that the guest actress gives such a bland empty performance that none of it is even slightly convincing. Why are we supposed to care about Odo falling in love with her, she's not in the slightest bit interesting.

Oh, and their other dumb note was all of them saying early on, "Why is Odo being so naive! Why is he trusting her so easily?" And then later, when Odo reveals he's been following her and looking into her story, they're like "Well, that kinda helped...a little." Uh, no, it completely invalidated your entire point. You should have known that, since you're making your recap after seeing the whole episode. Odo was never fooled, you just weren't paying attention!

Worth a listen this week. Lots of proper BTS stories from Business As Usual as I suspected might be the case given the involvement of Stephen Berkoff in the production, a notoriously difficult actor. When he appeared on Doctor Who they had to scrap the original episode ending and just cobble together what they had.
