The Delta Flyers now covering DS9

Now I've had the chance to listen to few more episodes I think that the addition of Armin has added a great deal to the dynamic of the podcast. It's fascinating listening to him, he obviously cares about the portrayal and thinking on Quark to much greater level than I would normally expect actors to have, even in Trek where many actors have played a character for 7 years or more. Its also interesting how precise he is with words and definitions.

I don't feel Terry is adding very much at the moment, but to be fair to her, she has said in the podcast that all of this is very new to her and she clearly wants to contribute and find interesting things to say when discussing the episodes.

Not all actors take naturally to discussing their craft I guess, which is fair enough.

In the most recent episode they have spent 30 minutes talking and barely discussed the episode. Get on with it and stop waffling!

Yeah, I found that one mildly frustrating, but for a different reason...I feel they can be obtuse about obvious stuff sometimes. Not Trek minutiae, just normal production stuff. Like RDM struggling to believe that Randy Oglesby played both twins, or all of them complaining about Oglesby's physical acting choice to stoop during the scene right after his twin brother is killed.

I think Terry's at a disadvantage because she and Armin alternate. When the podcast covered Voyager RDM and GW had each other to reminiscence and jog each others memory, Terry doesn't have that, when she doesn't remember something the other two don't know either.
I will say though during the Emissary podcast she correctly remembered the stages they shot on while Armin did not. ;)

But I enjoy the podcast regardless of how much the hosts remember, it's just nice to have them watch and talk about the show and in the car of RDM and GW getting to see it for the first time.

Yeah, Armin is certainly not infallible. He tends to be mildly unaware of stuff that doesn't involve Quark, and sometimes states things that aren't correct due to this. There's no test afterwards though, so it's all good. ;)

I think I would actually find Armin a little annoying after a while with all his corrections!

He clearly likes to be precise.

Oof, some of these episodes are hard to get through. I don't know what it is, some weeks are great and others...not so much.

I stick with it because I want to hear behind the scenes stories, but some weeks all you get are idiotic theories and baffling misunderstandings sandwiched between an increasing number of Patreon pushes. I get it, I'm listening to this show for free...doesn't mean I can't criticize it. :)

I really don't like how much they push the patreon side.

I can't believe they really need the money.

The conversations are at time somewhat bizarre, but it tends to reflect the world they live in I believe, one of successful actors who have very different lifes compared to the majority of the listening audience.

How can four people talking on a podcast possibly need 154 producers. That's more people than there were in Voyager's crew complement at any one time. It's almost as many as there were individual episodes of either VOY or DS9.

These are likely their top tier patrons on Patreon. It’s not uncommon for content creators to list them as “producers” like that. ;)

The patreon aspect of it makes me think that Garrett and Rob aren't really interested in discussing the episodes.

It's just another way to sell signed photos for extortionate prices.

Producing a podcast is work and we all like to get paid for our work. They're not doing this as a hobby and never claimed they do, the episodes are still available for free, so what exactly are you complaining about? You don't have to pay them if you don't want to.

It's the increased level of how much they are pushing patreon.

It seems like they advertise it every ten minutes or so.

I get it. It would be lovely if other people worked for free to satisfy our whims.

Though, I don't understand being so entitled as to actually expect that to happen, and then complain when it doesn't.

I'm only on Season 4, but so far I don't find the Patreon advertising to be all that intrusive. It's nowhere near as bad as all the ads in Talkville. I swear, if I hear one more add for Better Help...

And as others have said, it costs time and money to produce these shows. They have every right to advertise and earn compensation for their time. It's not like the acted on Voager for free.
