THE DARK TOWER will be made into a movie

Looks like I'm in the minority but I really enjoyed the 4th book and thought it was one of the better books in the series.

I really enjoyed the entire series but I've always been a Stephen King fan. It was NOT what I was expecting the series to be when I started reading it. And there are some flaws, I wasn't crazy about the final confrontation. Nor Susannah's ending.

I wonder what they'll do with Susannah, there was an inordinate amount of carrying in the books which I imagine would be even more awkward onscreen.

Honestly, I just don't know how this series will translate to movies or tv and not be incredibly cheesy.

I know virtually nothing about Legend of the Seeker, other than the tv show did not follow the books. Similar to True Blood I guess. Perhaps that's the route the Dark Tower needs to go.

Given how most Stephen King books don't translate well as movies, I'm pretty apprehensive about this.

I heard alot of ideas on casting roland, i for one would love to see House star Hugh laurie as old long ,tall and ugly. i think he would be a perfect roland.

I can't think of anyone better suited to play Roland now that Clint Eastwood's past the age of being able to pull it off.

Holloway might be more likely to take on a role that requires that he jump from TV to movies - Mortensen might simply be too big a star to want to get locked into such a time-intensive role, and have to give up other roles.

Josh might be able to pull it off, but he'd have to go with darker hair......a blond Roland ain't going to cut it. Plus, I'm not sure Josh could pull off the old soul vibe that Viggo can.......... still, I wouldn't be overly upset if it were Josh.

i think Viggo would make a good Roland. he's shown that he can handle fantasy and westerns so a combination shouldn't be a challenge for him. it would be nice if they could get Eastwood in as Roland's father. maybe during the flashback to his youth and the incident with his mom.

Javier Bardem is being offered the role of Roland.

Yeah, I saw that last night......not sure how I feel. I think I would preferred Viggo as he's proven he can carry the role but perhaps Bardem will do Roland nicely. I've never seem Bardem in anything so maybe I'll be fine with it. I just don't see how they can possibly do justice to the series.

As near as impossible as I thought LoTR's would be to pull off, I think this will be 10x harder to pull off than that series. While Peter Jackson did an amazing job with the movies, they certainly aren't "perfect" and made some pretty liberal changes to the story in places.

He was great in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Collateral, and No Country For Old Men. I'm happy with the choice if he accepts.

He certainly has the anger problem down.

Are either one of these guys actually going to want to do TV work in between the movies? I seriously doubt it.

Bale doesn't match what I pictured from the book. I don't know if he can pull off the old and weary facet of Roland.

I don't know but if Javier Bardem gets the role than that might be the final straw for this DT fan. Frankly I don't see him as Roland Deschain (Josh Holloway would be good if he was a tad bit older), that and the fact that Ron Howard is doing this gives me trepidation about this adaptation. They might as well have Mick Garris directing this effort.
