The Dark Knight Rises Anticipation Station

This has been in tune of what we've been seeing since those set photos of the the stuntwoman riding the Batpod. I think it looks fine. But while I don't mind the heels aesthetically, I just don't see how they would be practical in catburglar-ing. Ah well, here I am prejudging out of context set photos, but I'll reserve judgement when I see her in action.

The costume itself looks ok. More or less what i was expecting except the high heels.
On the other hand, I don't much like the way Hathaway looks wearing it. Reminds me more of some ordinary woman, who's never been to the gym, wearing a costume than a martial arts trained, cat-like agile thief.

But, we'll see. Movie magic, editing, lighting and context are all missing from these shots.
Yup, and that's probably not an actual scene in the movie, so, she may just look awkward, simply because she's not posing and acting in character.

Hathaway's outfit isn't all that removed from the catsuit Selina's been wearing for years now. Except for the thigh-high stiletto boots but for all we know they're some special magnetized heels that let her walk on walls.

I do wonder why she has lipstick on in that shot, though.

One cannot take early criticism too seriously because most of us know we're seeing something out of context. That said one shouldn't expect nothing but flattering praise for every tidbit of news that comes out.

As much as I like Nolan's take on Batman overall there are still quibbles, but weighed against what has worked they're minor ones. I didn't initially like the Tumbler, but my opinion changed. I'm still not that crazy about Batman's costume, but I can live with it. Presently I don't care for Catwoman's costume and I'm still skeptical of casting Anne Hathaway in the role (even though I like her as an actress), but I'll wait and see.

I think the Catwoman costume looks fine, though it could use a proper headpiece.
This what we see from the photos does not seem to hide her face/identity very well:shifty:

Love the costume - great throwback to the Julie Newmar costume of the 1960s (which it clearly is based upon). I'm glad they decided to go with a traditional style rather than that dog's breakfast that was used in Batman Returns (I never liked it) or that mess in the Halle Berry movie. Considering all the farting around going on with the comic books, it's probably a wise move to use an older costume style rather than try and mimic the comics which are in flux.

As they say, you can't judge anything based on telephoto lens pics taken by fans. Just like with the Wonder Woman TV costume, what it looks like in this context and what it looks like on screen are two entirely different things (in the WW pilot they were going to digitally change some details like the color). Similar set photos of Scarlett Johannson as Black Widow in the Avengers looked rather unimpressive in that context, yet anyone who has seen her in the kit in the finished, polished Iron Man 2 knows "unimpressive" isn't a word you would ever use.

Heck, these days with CGI by the time Dark Knight Rises hits theatres Anne's outfit may well be digitally replaced by something else entirely.

Looks pretty close to the comic books version to me. Although I would have rather seen them go with the pull over hood and goggles, rather than the mask. I don't know why, but the mask just looks weird to me.
Here's the cover from 2002's Catwoman #2, and the NuDCU's #1 from this month.

There's a definite resemblance to Julie Newmar's Catwoman

Julie Newmar. Mmmmmm.

Newmar's costume looks better because it's not made out of some pleather-like material.

I can't tell from the angle, but is that a mask or a mask done via face paint (like Black Canary on Smallville)?

^ I'm guessing your opinion isn't going to change since you've seen it enough times now to come to a definitive opinion but to each their own.

Regarding the heels, I wouldn't be surprised if those aren't some kind of weapon. Selina has always been full of tricks and normally as prepared for situations as Bruce is.

I'm reserving final judgement until I see it onscreen, and at this point it's the only thing about this film that I've seen that disappoints me. Maybe the final execution will be different, but for now it just doesn't work for me.

I had the same thought -- and unless it's some trick of the lighting, the heels alone seem to be a silver color rather than black like the rest of her costume.

I mean, I think it would be odd if they're just supposed to be some kind of fashion statement...;)
