The Dark Knight Rises Anticipation Station

I don't think it really should be a concern. Heath Ledger's death (and to a lesser degree the Joker) obviously brought more more attention to TDK than what was originally expected. However, the movie really delivered and connected with audiences causing the movie to rake in over a billion dollars.

My point I am trying to get to is that TDK was HOT when it came out and that will almost secure a very nice opening weekend gross for TDKR, regardless of what the quality of the film will be.

Granted, anything is possible, but if you look at other recent blockbuster franchises (Spider-Man, X-Men, Pirates, etc), every time an entry in the series is popular and critically well regarded, the following one always makes out big.

While I don't expect TDKR to bring in over $1 billion like TDK, I do think $700 million is probably a minimum safebet as long as the word of mouth/reviews are at least at BB levels because the 2nd film was loved by most who saw it.

I think the box office intake will be huge...maybe not as much as TDK but the hunger I think from fans is there to see this. I know it's my most anticipated film of next year. I missed seeing "The Dark Knight" in theaters due to my foot surgery. I will be sure to see it next summer! That is a huge budget!

Oi...is this what is going to be like until next summer? Or are we going to restrain ourselves and post something interesting?

I'd rather see set photos than even more endless, circular discussions about Bale's Batman voice or random speculation that someone's playing Talia al Ghul or whatever.

That reminds me, do you think they'll tone down Bale's Batman voice?

Also, how come they haven't cased Talia yet? We all know she is going to be in the movie! They should get Angelina Jolie!

Amiright, folks?

;)

I didn't say stuff from the movie bothers me. What bothers me is people posting unimportant misc stuff from the movie, you know for the sake of just posting stuff. Even you yourself said Captaindemotion that it wasn't important. It's just a SWAT truck.

Is it really a SWAT truck? Or is it code?

Sigourney Weaver As Talia.

You heard it here first!

 I said it wasn't that exciting. So you had the option of not clicking on the link. Instead, you click on the link and then come back to moan about what's on the end of it.

These are among the first pics from the set of the movie, so I'm not posting 'just for the sake of posting stuff.' Some people might actually want to see them. I know that when I saw the headline in Moviehole, it was the first story I went to (and I, unlike them, tried to make sure no-one got too excited about the pics).

You do this in almost every 'anticipation' thread - come in and complain that the thread has been started too early and that you're not interested in this miscellanea. Well, we don't have a trailer or poster to look at yet, so as far as I'm concerned, I'll make do with what there is. You too must know that all we're going to get at the minute are crumbs, so like I say, if you don't want to see posts like this, avoid the thread.

I don't really want to read another complaint from you that there's no novelisation of the X-Men First Class, but I'm pretty sure I've read at least three so far. So don't complain about my posts.

^ I'm not complaining about YOUR posts in particular....don't make this personal because it isn't...I'm complaining about general posts of misc importance. Sigh. You claim that this is some kind of track record of mine. The fact is it is ridiculous having a thread that will last over a year and have five or six pages of garbage discussion. I say that about all the threads on the board. I understand wanting to follow the production of a film...it'd help though if there were on topic discussions instead of tangents about this or that. I wasn't attacking you personally. Just the threads in general...and yeah maybe it's time that I stopped posting in general then.

^ I don't want you to stop posting; FWIW, I think that you're an interesting and enjoyable poster most of the time. I agree about the on-topic point too, incidentally. But the bottom line is, we're all interested in different stuff or different aspects of production, so we're inevitably going to talk about things that won't interest others on the board.

You didn't intend it personally, no problem - maybe you can see how it would be taken as that, coming immediately after my post. But, look, misunderstanding over, let's all move on and await that first trailer!
