The Dark Knight Rises Anticipation Station

The article I first referenced (which took Batman on Film's report I think) suggests that we'll get a redesigned Tumbler or closer to the Bat Tank seen in The Dark Knight.

I always figured Nolan drew inspiration for The Tumbler from the Bat-Tank as seen in The Dark Knight Returns. I'm not sure that a full-on tank vehicle would be a good idea- I sort of liked the hybrid Hummer/Lamborghini take that we saw in The Tumbler.

^ I'm not such a big fan of the Tumbler, my biased love for Tim Burton's Batmobile knows no bounds.

I'm with ya buddy, Burtons Batman set the mold of THE batmobile for me. I still think the Bugatti Veyron looks like a real life version of that. Well more of an Italian Super car version of that.

TBH I don't like the idea of a Bat Plane of any sort in the Nolan verse, just doesn't seem to fit.

I see no reason that a Bat-Plane can't work in a Nolan film. Now what type of plane used could be debated. One of the things I'm interested in seeing in "The Dark Knight Rises" is the relationship between Bruce and Lucius. Things didn't seem so peachy at the end of the last movie.

Maybe he's inspired to build the Batplane in TDKR because he couldn't get across Gotham fast enough in his Batpod to save Rachel in TDK! :p

Bruce probably realizes he can't do the Russian dancers and Korean smugglers routine again.

He needs his own mode of transportation when going abroad.

I don't see the problem. Lucius said that as long as the machine was at Wayne, he wouldn't be. But when he entered his name, the machine self-destructed, and he walked out with a contented look on his face. At the same time the voiceover talks about people having their faith rewarded.

If you're taking issue with the concept, I'd say it fits about as well as a millionaire dressed in a bat-themed costume, a bad guy dressed as a clown or a microwave device that could cook a city's water supply. If you're talking about the use of a plane in general, then yeah, it doesn't seem all that practical to use a plane to fight crime in a city. If indeed a plane will be used, I can't wait to see how. Maybe he'll use it to leave Gotham City.

I think after how Bruce arranged his trip to Hong Kong he probably thought...wow it'd be useful to have my own plane.

And he needs to take flying lessons first, I guess. ;)

Which reminds me that they forgot about essential parts in Begins and TDK. He spent like 7 years in Ninja training, but how did he become expert in flying with his batwings? It's not something you should or could teach yourself, I guess.

I am sure there are deleted scenes that exist out there that show Batman flying into walls and other buildings.
