Circa the time of Burton's movie, I thought Berenger would have been a fine Batman/ Bruce Wayne. He'd need to lose some weight to appear in TDKR but they could do worse if they ever did film it.

Yes it was, not better than the first, but definately up to par. I would say X-men 3 or Spiderman 3 were two movies that were ok, but not up to par with the feel of the first two. I like them if I don't pick them apart, but the standard that was set in the first two films was not caried over into the third. With the movies I mentioned, we got the same level standard and in my opinion we got a better movie than the second one. POTC:AWE was better than DMC, Indy Jones 3 better than 2,The Voyage Home, better than The Search for Spock(However, The Search For Spock is not better than TWOK), BTTF 3, better than 2, ROTJ, better than ESB(that can and will be debated). The one problem with trilogies is that I can't think of one where I like the third one better than the second and the second one better than the first, maybe Nolan can break the mold.

It would be fun to see one actor from the Burton/Schumacher films in the same role again, for example Jim Carrey as Riddler, but with a whole different take on the character, under the direction of Nolan. I'd be interested to see the result.

Meh, I really don't like it when the same team in front and behind the camera appears all over again in different movies. Sequels, yeah, but not for two totally different films.

Why would he want to be? I'm sure that by now he's quite sick of people still thinking of him as a kid just because they remember him from an old sitcom.
Moreover, why would we want him to be? It was ridiculous enough seeing the 25-year-old Chris O'Donnell play the "Boy" Wonder in Batman Forever (and then again two years later). Gordon-Levitt is only 7 years younger than Bale. Hell, he's three years older than the guy who was just cast as Superman.

Still think it would make more sense for him to be Nightwing than Robin, but only in a cameo capacity, not to overshadow Batman or Catwoman.

JGL looks enough like Heath Ledger to have been a credible re-cast but I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen.
