The Dark Knight Megathread (USE THIS! Love, the mods)

Cuts made from IMAX version of The Dark Knight?

Is it true that the IMAX format allows for only two hour films or some such, thus resulting in the removal of a half hour from TDK?

Re: Cuts made from IMAX version of The Dark Knight?

No. That was only for Attack of the Clones and Apollo 13. Newer IMAX projectors don't require cuts at all. Superman Returns wasn't cut.

Re: Cuts made from IMAX version of The Dark Knight?

Thanks, LL. I'm going to try and find a nearby IMAX now, if I can.

"The Dark Knight" Megathread (USE THIS YOU RUBES)

Spiff and I have noticed over the last week or so that every time anyone has a question about The Dark Knight, there's a new thread about it. "Will it be cut for IMAX?" "There's a new Dark Knight TV spot!" "New pictures from The Dark Knight!" "What trailers will be in front of the movie?" "There's another new review of the movie out!"

I say thee, nay.

From here on out, use this thread for all miscellaneous discussion regarding The Dark Knight (As housekeeping, I'm merging several existing threads into this one, as well). This is the megathread for the movie. For reviews of the movie, there's Agent Richard07's Grading thread on the first page of this forum. For everything else, use this!

Or else. ;)

Ooooorrrrrrrrrr....

You guys could just make a Comicbook forum already. To cover all comicbook films, movies, shows, the comics themselves, what not. :techman:

I feel compelled to point out, though, that the reason so many start new topics for such, is because many people will not SEE whatever new has occured unless it's a new topic; people stop reading multi-page topics after a point.

Re: "The Dark Knight" Megathread (USE THIS YOU RUBES)

cool the megathread merges my "New tv spots from the dark knight" :) and the cuts thread.

Re: "The Dark Knight" Megathread (USE THIS YOU RUBES)

I'm starting to get swept up in the excitement for this movie.

However...if this movie doesn't feature a boner crime, I'm walking out and demanding my money back!

Re: "The Dark Knight" Megathread (USE THIS YOU RUBES)

According to Yahoo early ticket sales for the first weekend have already surpassed Spiderman 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End. It's already also ahead of every other major 'event movie' of 2008.

Re: "The Dark Knight" Megathread (USE THIS YOU RUBES)

^ I have to agree. I wonder if it'll take the weekend box office record (not win its opening weekend but take over the record box office opening weekend from SM3).

Re: "The Dark Knight" Megathread (USE THIS YOU RUBES)

^That's what analysts are saying, at least from what I've been reading. Which is kind of funny, because people have been very leery of the film doing anything past $200 million around here, but I've been saying this film is going to at least hit $250 if not assuredly $300 million domestically.

I think these numbers are definitely an indication of that.

Re: "The Dark Knight" Megathread (USE THIS YOU RUBES)

^ Well I don't recall additional screenings (well none at 6am) for any other film within the last ten years. Good sign (I've long believed it would hit 300+).

Yep. The buzz for this film is like through the roof. I don't remember a film with this kind of anticipation in a long while.

I can tell you right now that I don't think I have ever been this pumped to see a film. Next Wednesday cannot come soon enough...

I think the film will do $250 at least, but I'm not sure about $300. I think it will have the "Batman Returns" effect, in that it will be too dark for a lot of people. Parents will take their kids opening weekend, be shocked that it's a PG-13 (thank you Warner Bros. and your industry pull), and warn other people not to go. Two and a half hours could hurt it a bit, too. Iron Man and Indy are just coming in at over $300, and they're much lighter family friendly fare.
