This was wonderful. I am always concerned by someone trying to resurrect an old IP just to squeeze some more money out of it but this is wonderful. It was beautiful to behold, the shots, the landscapes, wow. It was very nice to look at.
And the story was really good, too. I'm just wondering where can they go from here. The first Garthim soldier has been built, but are they really going to go into the slaughter of the Gelfling civilization? Even if the two Gelfling from the movie aren't actually the last two survivors, they certainly aren't anywhere in the movie like here, so the Gelfling "nation" is destroyed. They ended on a high note with the rebellion not being crushed immediately but with a strong foreshadowing of the worse to come. After watching this and the movie again, I'd like it if the second or subsequent season(s) goes into and effectively remakes the movie so they can continue the story even further. What to the reunited Urskeks do? Are they physical beings or some kind of energy, they don't really look solid like the Skeksis and Mystics did. I'd like to see more of them and more of the rebuilding of the Gelfling and other cultures in the aftermath of all of this. Is the darkening really defeated and gone or will it still persist in some form? This is a rare occasion where the new version eclipses the original but then it is a change of medium and a streaming show of almost 8 hrs can do a lot that a 90 minute movie could never do.
