The Dalek civil war trilogy or "Rs of the Daleks"

First, the problem with things like that is that they always choose the "theoretical best case" to see what happens.

Second, from your link "In some cases even a portion of a planetary biosphere (deep in planet's crust) can survive."

That's hardly a ringing endorsement.

Still, it raises the possibility that Skaro could have survived the nova of its sun. I wasn't trying to say it was definitive in this case, but it's certainly possible.

The Daleks can move whole planets. Perhaps they moved one to replace the old destroyed one. Or Skaro could have survived. Afterall the Daleks don't really need an atmosphere to conduct their business. :)

Assuming Skaro's sun was about the same size as ours (and given that it had a habitable planet that's a reasonable assumption) then it would have been far too small to go supernova in the normal course of events. Even with the help of the Hand of Omega, the supernova was probably a lot less powerful than a naturally occurring one.

I can imagine Davros' imperial Daleks were wiped out, but the planet itself survived.

It didn't, says so in the episode.
