Check 'em out. Tell us what you think.
Do you have anything to add?

1.Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

2. When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.

3. Follow the three R’s:
- Respect for self,
- Respect for others and
- Responsibility for all your actions.

4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.

5. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.

6. Don’t let a little dispute injure a great relationship.

7. When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

8. Spend some time alone every day.

9. Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.

10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.

11. Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and
think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a second time.

12. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.

13. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don’t bring up the past.

14. Share your knowledge. It is a way to achieve immortality.

15. Be gentle with the earth.

16. Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.

17. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.

18. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

19. If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.

20. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.

Much as I respect the Dalai Lama, and think that his words make sense I do love messing around with these kind of philosopical phrases. Some random words of wisdom I've just thrown together:

Walk slowly; the earth will thank you.
The ocean is large enough to swallow any tears
The higher the mountain the greater the aspiration
Frost kills flowers, but without it there is no new growth
Tomorrow will always come with fresh skies
Clouds are God's way of paving the way for the sun

It's just a bit of a hobby of mine.

I have never cared for such words of wisdom because they express everything and nothing.

Suppose you are a businessman, invest in a very risky project and it works. Then you can say that "there's no reward in life without risk".
Suppose it fails, then everybody else will tell you that "you cannot piss against the wind".

About the Dalai Lama, everything he says sounds intuitive and like something that flows, not something that you have to force yourself to do. The really trick issues in life are the counterintuitive ones which require iron discipline.

I find the Dalai Lama to be a truly inspired human being, I appreciate the words of wisdom he shares and I think he has the right ideas.

I wanna be like him when I grow up! :)

Minus the orange, orange doesn't agree with my complexion. :shifty:

Well, whether they come from Dalai Lama or just a regular old Llama, it's all great advice. I follow all of them except number 16, unfortunately; I wish I could follow that one as much as I used to, and someday I will again.

I like the Dalai Lama's advice on hiring prostitutes. No, I'm not joking, he's actually given advice on that.
