Personally I don't do crosswords that often but I used to buy crossword books before I was online. Now I tend to waste time doing different things. There are also word/number/logic puzzles that I prefer more than crosswords.

The Sator Square is awesome.

I don't consider doing crossword puzzles in moderation to be a waste of time, in the same way that playing Klondike is. On the contrary, I think crosswords exercise recall ability, which helps keep the mind able to tackle practical problems.

At least, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

I did the Google Doodle crossword yesterday. Got stuck and made guesses in a few places (and googled one clue), and then the darn thing didn't have the correct solution posted anywhere! At least not that I could find.

I've tried making my own crosswords in the past, and determined that I prefer solving them.

One of my biggest goals in life is to at least once manage to solve the Times' crossword completely and without looking any of the answers up.

I probably should have used the phrase 'fill my time' rather than 'waste my time'.

I started doing crosswords when I was about 16 years old in an effort to improve my poor spelling. I think crosswords helped though I think other word puzzles such as cryptograms helped even more.

I do a ton of .puz crosswords on AcrossLite. I've got over 12,000 of them, but I prefer the Sunday ones.

I used to love the massive x-words in the middles of Games magazine, but always had to use the "easy" clues.

I even used to do patternless x-words from the paper.
