See this is why I plan to avoid this thread for at least 2 weeks when the movie comes out do to the chaos that will unfold.

That or I'll just bring pop corn and watch the madness.

I get the feeling the TREK XI forums will go up like a Yucca Flats test detonation when the movie opens. This place is going to be full of so much arguing and bile...even if the movie is actually pretty damn good...that a lot of us are going to be reluctant to engage in debate and argument for at least a solid week.

It's a safe bet that there will have to be an "Underground Nuke Fallout Shelter" thread were no one will be allowed to talk about the new film.

So which on going thread will become the "Fallout Shelter" I nominate "Blue Warp Nacelles" or "Shouting Spock" or "Badass Robau" or any other off the wall thread as "Neutral Territory" during the great XI war.

We will stay in those threads until the coast is clear.
That should take, what a month ?

Look, guys, when this opens we're going to have half a dozen polls and hundreds of posts in here about how great it is, hundreds of posts dissecting it bit by bit and arguing over whether this-or-that makes sense or can be made to fit with some other thing, and dozens of posts by a few people denouncing the movie as trash and the work of Satan.

And most all of us already have a sense which of those posts we'll each be making.

And on that day we will all focus inordinately and angrily on the threads devoted to the dozens of posts trashing the movie.

All of this has happened before. All of this will happen again.
