The corniest film you inexplicably love

February 2nd being Groundhog Day in the US and Canada, I believe it is only fitting to include the movie of the same name, made about the same day but released 31 years ago.

What is corny about Groundhog Day? It’s a brilliantly acted, scripted, plotted and directed film. Widely and rightly regarded as a classic.

One of my favourite movies of all time.
And a soundtrack by Queen, what could be better?

One of my all time favorite movies too. Now that they're remaking it with Henry Cavill i am a little anxious. Fight choreography and special effects will most likely be much better ( and Cavill has shown that he's good with a sword) but the original had such a charm - the soundtrack, Connery as Ramirez, Brown as the villain and a litte cross eyed Lambert

From Wikipedia: It has also had a significant effect on popular culture: the term Groundhog Day, meaning a monotonous, unpleasant, and repetitive situation, has become part of the English lexicon.
Corny from the Cambridge Dictionary: emotional and obvious from having been used too often.

I like the movie and its corny elements (one being I got you babe repeated to show the start of another loop). I also posted it on Groundhog day to honor the movie. Corny movies don't have to be bad. Mostly thanks to Bill Murray. From the Wikipedia article on the movie: "After being cast, Murray clashed with Ramis over the script; Murray wanted to focus on the philosophical elements, whereas Ramis concentrated on the comedic aspects... ...Reviewers were consistent in praise for the film's successful melding of highly sentimental and deeply cynical moments, and for the philosophical message beneath the comedy."

I do not like the idea of re-making Highlander.
The special effects would be better, of course.
I do not think Henry Cavill is the right person to play Connor MacCleod. Nothing against Cavill. He is a very good actor ( I really enjoyed The Man From U.N.C.L.E.)
The reason I liked the original is that MacCleod is not an over muscled Hollywood pretty boy.
MacCleod wins because he is a small, crafty, and sneaky, and his enemies underestimate him.

Hollywood should make another Man from U.N.C.L.E.

But isn't that a good thing? This allows them to do something new so it isn't just a exact copy of the first movie.

No.
Highlander is a unique and add special movie.
Hollywood is so messed up right now, I wouldn’t trust them to make a grilled cheese sandwich ( this was the only clean way I could think of to express it).
