Speaking of phasers, this ep has one of my favorite plot/equipment contrivances. Come on now - the red alert light with a door that opens into a storage area where Kodos could hide a phaser, but Kirk sees it because its sitting in front of a light source that is activated because Kirk calls for red alert because he hears the phaser on overload. Please.

I never liked this one as a kid but I'd give it a 7 nowadays. The Spock/McCoy dialogue while McCoy's drinking and they're hashing it out while Kirk's in danger. Uhura singing "Beyond Antares." Kevin Riley's likeability from "Naked time" lends sympathy to this character's situation now that we might not have had if it was a brand new character. The dialogue between kirk and Lenore that was full of sexual inneuendo on the shuttlecraft observation deck. About the ship..."All that power throbbing and surging. Are you like that, Captain?" Went over my head as a kid, priceless nowadays.
