Spoilers The Clone Wars - Season 7 Discussion [SPOILERS]

The timeline for the show was always a little wonky since the show doesn't even start until around 6-8 months after AotC (to allow for Anakin to be knighted, grow out his hair & get that scar.) Which means if the war lasted about 3 years and Ahsoka was expelled about a year before RotS, she was only Anakin's Padawan for roughly 18 months.
And I'm sure if anyone tried to plot out even a rough timeline, they'd be hard pressed to fit in all the events both in a logical order and within that prescribed time-frame...though given how much free time I suddenly have while waiting out the lockdown, I might just give it a shot, even knowing it's probably not workable.

Regardless, for obvious reasons the last 9 months or so are necessarily locked-in in terms of what can and can't happen, so that's going to limit things.

ETA: Don't know why this is just occurring to me now, but Raffa mentioned Jedi plural regarding the incident with Ziro & Bane. Since the one she described was almost certainly Luminara, then odds are the other one was Barriss.
Could this mean this was the inciting incident that set Barriss on the path she took; Witnessing the collateral damage of the Jedi and her Master's cold, pragmatic indifference to the suffering of the innocent? Filloni did say he had plans for her, which have yet to see fruition, so maybe this is a breadcrumb?

I finally remembered to watch the latest episode, and I enjoyed it. It wasn't one of their best, but it did have some cool action, and it was nice to learn a bit more about the sisters. The appearance of Bo Katan was a nice surprise, and I'm assuming is a set up for the Siege of Mandalore. So that was Uras Wren with her? I thought both voices sounded familiar, but I wasn't sure who the second one was.

I'm happy with the ending between Ahsoka, Trace, and Rafa. If we ever saw those characters again, I wouldn't complain.

Good episode, good action, and a nice segue into the next arc. Though the constant capturing and re-capturing over the past few episodes felt a bit like running in circles.

Always such a bummer seeing Maul after that awful treatment he got in Rebels in that squash fight. Poor guy was buried beyond belief. Hopefully that one was a facsimile and the real one is still around. If Ashoka can move past her sell by date, so can he.

I watched Star Wars enough to know that no one is truly dead.
I know people say that scene was amazing but it did nothing for me. I wanted to see Maul to more. Especially after Solo. They should retcon that and use him in the Kenobi series. If they gave him more and with it being live action, then that ending would fit better with me.
Speaking of which, it is rather disconcerting to have Maul show up in this with the last time we saw him being captured by Sidious. I know there is a comic telling that story but I doubt many have read that. They should have animated that as well.

Just let Maul be dead. I’m honestly over his character.

And animating the tale of Maul escaping Palps would be expensive. Chances are they didn’t have a budget for more than 13 episodes. The Maul story had been told and they’ll tell us what we need to know if we need to know any of it. We needed to know a little of what happened to Ahsoka and I’m going to guess the Bad Batch plays a part in The Siege of Mandalore.

I do find it odd that they are only doing 12 episodes. I know Filoni wants to do other things but he doesn’t need to be involved that much. Especially with the incomplete episodes.
If it was me with my OCD, I would complete those episodes first and then think of doing more.

The latest episode was probably my favorite so far and I was surprised how it wrapped up that arc and featured Mandalorians and Maul.

Add me to those who don't understand why so few episodes are being released. At the very least the Crystal Crisis arc could have had it's animation finished and added another month of new content while being a really good Anakin/Obi-Wan story.

Beyond that there is another 24/36 potential episodes they could have produced from the scripts they have (depending on whether or not you count the Son of Dathomir/Dark Disciple arcs which already have been adapted for other comics/novels). I would have loved to see Crystal Crisis, Yoda/Bad Batch on Kashyyyk, and Return to the Jedi Temple doubling the final season and giving some focus on other characters.

Maybe because the previous season ended up being quite short, it established a precedent that any subsequent seasons also be of similar length. Or it could be that it's so expensive to produce, 12 episodes was all Disney was willing to allow.

I don't think it has anything to do with Filony, it was probably just how much Disney wanted. When it comes to things like episode count, I'm pretty sure it's the network/streaming service that makes those decisions, not the showrunner.

For me it was one of the best duels in Star Wars period. I don't know of a better ending for Maul.

I don't think it has anything to do with Filony, it was probably just how much Disney wanted. When it comes to things like episode count, I'm pretty sure it's the network/streaming service that makes those decisions, not the showrunner.

It's no coincidence that the 12 episodes they are doing here are just the ones that conclude the major storylines for the Clone Wars original characters of Rex and Ahsoka (and arguably Maul, as well, depending on how the final arc plays out). I'm guessing they were told they could go back to this series, but only with the minimum number of episodes necessary to do that and that alone. Finish the Clone Wars era stories for your darlings and call it a night.

As I've said before, the limiting factor here is most likely Dave Filonni's time, which is finite. He wants to finish the show he and George started together the way they'd intended and get out of dodge to make NEW things, not spend another 5 years of his life polishing off old material.
