I will definitely be finding a way to watch this Roku Original.

Weird Al should be like our hero.

Also, Rainn Wilson as Doctor Demento should be fun.

I'll definitely watch it, but it will never be as true and authentic as this absolutely 100% real and factual telling by Al himself:

The Compleat Al (1985)

It's 100% true.
All of it. Pretty much.

I had that on VHS once upon a time.....I still could have it somewhere. No VCR though.

It looks completely idiotic. I can't wait.

Walk Hard annihilated the 'same every time' music biopic formula, I love that this looks like it's kind of doing a similar thing? Embracing that formula so hard that it chokes to death.

That trailer is spectacular, especially if you know how Weird Al actually is (although I'd find it hard to imagine that anyone doesn't get its all a joke by the end of the trailer). I especially like how, whenever a singing section starts, Weird Al's singing comes out of Radcliffe's mouth  I didn't think I'd ever be excited for a Roku Original, but I think this is going to end up being great.

The guy's a legend in his own special way. I remember he took over the airwaves of MuchMusic (Canada's MTV) and for a couple of days, he would show his travels across Canada during his tour of Canada and Alaska in 1995. . It was fairly memorable.

I mean, I still remember seeing this bit live:

It's reminiscent of the type of interviews Rick Mercer did.

And given recent events, it's a bit unsettling to see that image of George VI.

So has anyone watched this? It came out last Friday and we watched it. Such a fun movie. It's very much a satire on the whole biopic genre, much in the same way his songs are parodies, and it makes a point of taking liberties because it can, and it takes it in wildly absurd direction as a result. Some of it is rather over the top, in fact.

There's a scene at Dr Demento's house about midway through that I think is my favourite, where he's challenged by Wolfman Jack to come up with a parody to Another One Bites the Dust on the spot. The reactions to his success are hilarious. This movie has lots of cameos too. Radcliff is great as Weird Al, even though he wouldn't have been my first choice, and Rachel-Wood is also great as Madonna. Really wasn't the ending I was expecting, but I'm Ok with that. :D

As an old school Weird Al and Dr Demento fan, I liked it a lot.

Radcliff and Wilson were great.

Rachel Evan Wood was surprisingly effective/funny as a fictional Yokoesque Madonna

Good parody of biopics
