The bridge shots (large images)

Re: The bridge shots

pretty cool actually ! I didn't expect this. You know, maybe it's not really the Enterprise's bridge. Maybe it's the Kobayashi Maru, which would explain Kirk's shirt... just a thought...

Re: The bridge shots

I think it's so-so. Like many others I think it's too white with too much what looks like glass.

I just want to make sure that people know that just because some people think this bridge looks a bit off doesn't mean we're some sort of Star Trek Fundamentalists or anything. I'm sure some will be be puritans about it, but we've already had about 3 or 4 of those mocking " OMfG!!1111 THIS IS NOT CANIN1111111111" posts. That's a straw man.
Thank you. I think that needed to be said. I don't like the bridge myself. Like others have said, I feel its too busy. I believe I would like it a lot more if the "yeoman's station" or whatever it is, wasn't there. It makes things look too cluttered.

Re: The bridge shots

I don't care for it. How come every one gets chairs except for the lady at the console? That's not Uhura is it?

Where's the turbo lift? Is that the entrance just to the right of the console? Wonder if there will be more than one lift?

The few pics we see of Kirk, he's wearing all black, is that some type of new Captain's color?

The uniforms looks pretty decent, close to the originals but with an updated feel to it.

Sorry, but the bridge looks just too "cartoony" for me. I'd like to see more shots, though.

Kirk's wearing black because the uniforms now consist of a black overshirt and a tunic with the department color, so he just doesn't have his tunic on.

Re: The bridge shots

Eh... Way too busy... Kind of reminds me of Galaxy Quest, actually. As closely as he stuck to the uniforms, I have to say I'm pretty disappointed in the bridge.
Eh... I can't say I really expected them to stick too close to the TOS interiors, other than in basic set-up. Many of the TOS sets and props looked cheap, blocky, and non-functional. I'm not 100% ecstatic, but I like it a lot more than other possible directions they could've gone. I'll wait to see a full-on shot of the bridge in working motion before I pass final judgment, but so far I'm pleased. :)
I was kind of hoping the layout would be the same and it would have the same basic look, but with updated controls and displays. Kind of like the uniforms look basically the same but are made out of a different material.

Re: The bridge shots

This is quite a difference, and I think it might be a bit too soon to comment on it, especially when we only have one clear shot.

The consoles seem to be designed in a similar way to TOS consoles, just way more futuristic. Right now I don't really like the standalone station/console, it just looks really strange with those joysticks and reading lights(?).

Re: The bridge shots

This I like.

- Abrams was insistent that every piece of equipment on the bridge serve a legitimate purpose — that they all have “functionality.” According to Lindelof, the maps we see in the background near the top of the communications desk were based on the generally accepted layout of the Star Trek universe.

The layout is the same. Look at the shape of the console. It's got the control boards on the bottom, followed by a series of small displays, with a series of large displays up top. We see Sulu just barely in frame and can infer he is sitting at the Nav/Helm console. The bridge still apppears circular in shape. Indeed, the only layout change is the temporarily dubbed "yeoman's station"

Re: The bridge shots

I'm a bit skeptical.
This bridge looks great to me, but how we do we know that's the real bridge?

Re: The bridge shots

That and it's much larger and has a lot more junk in it. Notice I said "same basic look". The layout of the bridge is pretty much the same on all Federation ships of all eras.

Re: The bridge shots

Hmmmmmmm... I'm not sure. I particualrly don't like the standing console with the Tesco barcode scanners on. It looks way too 'sci-fi spoof' to me.

The uniforms, however, rock.

Btw, I think it is the E and not any other ship or a fake-out - '1701' is visible on one of the rear displays, on the left.

Yeah, I take back my previous comment. After looking at all of the images, it looks legit. Personally? I love it, and I'm getting all tingly now as I see the crew in their uniforms, see the bridge,...ooooaaaauuuggggggghhhh....

Re: The bridge shots

I'm putting all my quatloos on that bridge in those new photos being some kind of starfleet simulator.

Well, the KM simulator in STII looked exactly the same as the Enterprise bridge, so...

Is there really a difference?

Yeah that one will be all lite up and basically a class room, whereas the actual bridge of the ship might be different in lighting and looks.....

Of course I'm only speculating, they are my quatloos after all.:p:lol:

Re: The bridge shots

The Bridge, the uniforms. anyone else think this movie is looking very Phase II? (and I'm warming to the look very quickly)

I noted the phase 2 similarity in another thread. It is very much the Mike Minor bridge design ... which makes it seem very 70s to me, as in it looks like SPACE: 2299

Dated in a wrong direction

Re: The bridge shots

The pics look awesome in my opinion. I'll be there when the film opens.

However, Nero is seriously giving me a Shinzon vibe... :(
