i recall tmp budget at in 1979 as being reported at 40 million. they did hype it up.

The $40 million figure for ST:TMP also included the various other attempts to return Trek to the screen including the aborted Phase II series.

According to IMDB Congo had a budget of $50 million. A pretty respectable sum for a movie made in 1995.
